All I can say that it's a simple change of environment that still involves the police and a broad brush stroke view of crime and politics that makes it able to be filmed on a lesser budget.

I haven't read all this. But why do we have to "do" the Wire?
British drama is good enough. Why are you putting Yank stuff on a pedestal? I still love stuff like Mistresses, the one about the 4 sisters, and loads of other stuff. I don't see why wee can't produce the odd serial that lasts for 6 episodes and that's it. Why does it have to go on for f**king ever?
