:D

Just spent over £500 in about 2 hours. Yikes!

Bought a Wii bundle that included 5 games plus Wii Fit Plus for £200, a remote control helicopter, a Mecano robot, an adventure set complete with walkie talkies, a bottle of Baileys, 2 boxes of Ferreo Rochet and to top it off, 7 nights at a Haven holiday park in Dorset at Easter.

The better be happy or they can stuff it next year. ;)

Wow! :O It's going to be the best Christmas... Oh, it's not for me :(

We're keeping it simple this year; £1K limit per gift (maximum of three).

Is that all? Pauper.

Sorry mate - these are for me.

The wife and kids will have to be happy with stuff from the pound shop.

Seriously, they are getting spoilt this time after a catastrophic blunder on my part last year meant that it was a very barren Christmas. :(

Mind you my eldest daughter is still expecting a laptop but I'm afraid Santa is going to have to let her down on that one. The problem is is that if you do it for one the others get mad that they didn't get one either.

[Bah! Humbug!]

How old is she? Could it be presented under the guise of being necessary for school work?

I am intrigued...

He sold Mrs Tuumble for a handful of magic beans.

My kids are 10, 8 and 6 (nearly 7) and to be frank she does not need a laptop. We have a computer she can use but she wants one of her own in her own room which I can understand but the need doesn't justify the cost yet. I am putting off the inevitable I know.

Earlier this year she badgered me into submission regarding a mobile phone and it's still on the first £10 of credit since September. She doesn't need it but she likes the idea of having one especially as most of her class does.

Zooo, last year's problems were down to having money problems and then compounding the issue by not working hard enough for the company bonus or annual pay rise. I took it for granted which is a very dangerous game.

That was the kick I needed and I got the rise a few weeks later and half the bonus but by then the damage was done - Christmas was over. Things have gone well this year though. I got the bonus this time, my job title has been changed to Senior Marketing & Communications Executive and I'm getting an assistant who starts next month.

A lot can happen in a year.

Ah I see, that's not so bad, I thought you'd gambled the money on the dogs or something!

If I had kids I don't think I'd let them have computers of their own, I'd just have one in the living room or kitchen where I could convince myself I'd see if any nonces were trying to groom them.

Yes, but if no nonces tried to groom them you'd start feeling your kids were less attractive than other kids, and not worthy of a nonce grooming. It's a minefield, parenting.

My kids had computers of their own at an early age, but they were kept on desks downstairs until they were 18.

Your kids are armed as well. Makes grooming them riskier.

Ooh, good point.
So much to think about!
