Almost anything that comes to mind. Most politics angering me.

So where is the blog o fearless leader?
Quote: Ben @ December 20 2009, 1:40 PM GMTBecause Aaron likes the challenge.
Prezunctly.
Plus, there's a charm that Wordpress lacks. And unless they've changed the markup in past 18 months, that every-man versatility you note makes it quite messy (code, not UI).
Besides, it's only "reinventing the wheel" if you duplicate everything. Why did Mullenweg reinvent Movable Type's wheel?
Quote: ShoePie @ December 20 2009, 2:31 PM GMTThere's also an XML export if I remember correctly so you can move to wordpress (Or Blogaaron?) at a later date if you want.
Blogspot is incredibly easy to use. It took me 5 minutes to set up and I'm a cretin.
Quote: Kevin Murphy @ December 20 2009, 9:43 PM GMTGo to some Blogger/Blogspot blogs, then go to some Wordpress ones. Figure out which you prefer as a reader. Whichever user experience you decide upon is what you will eventually be inflicting upon your readers.
What you're telling him to judge on is entirely down to the blog owner! I've seen Wordpress-powered blogs that are painful, and equally ones that are lovely.

Offline at present.

But you have to admit that the default Blogger template is painful, ugly.
At least with Wordpress there are thousands of free "themes" templates to choose from and, if you want, adapt. Not to mention the hundreds of incredibly useful free plugins.

I agree with this.

It's not exactly the nicest, no. But then to be fair, Wordpress's default is a bit cold and sparse. And with my UI/accessibility hat on, there's very little difference.
The plugins certainly are tempting, but anything I want I can build myself, and I like to know my code inside out. And besides, once we get too far into plugin territory, we're looking more at a fully-fledged CMS than blogging software.
Blogs are pretty narcistic, solipstic and masturbatory exercises. Even more so than posts here.

haha wow.
Just a little tip for those who like to check their blog stats, always clip the blog using the 'read more' option. Basically (in Wordpress) it's line that cuts your blog and only shows what is above that line on your front page. To read the whole post the reader will have to 'click through' and this means that the blog post title will be picked up in your stats.
If you have the full blog shown on your front page people will just scroll down to read it and not click on a particular page so you won't be so clear as to how many people are reading a particular blog post.
To get an idea of what I mean look at the top article on my 'randomness' blog: http://crustynomad.wordpress.com and then click on 'read more'.
If anyone wants me to explain a little more just PM me.

I don't know about you, Chip, but I quite enjoy masturbation.
