He's a couple of weeks older. The next one I am fudging. I'm not sure what to do about that question. Sue Grafton's novels are all set in the same year... 76 I think and there are no computers or moble phones etc.

Ian Rankin aged Rebus in his novels fairly realistically. Although the fact he's initially described as being former SAS is quietly dropped. You author-types and your lies, eh?

Why not set them all in the year 2000? The year before the iPod was first launched...?

I liked Michael Dibdin's novels about the Italian chap. Shame when dibdin died.
The Christmas tree is pretty well f**ked and will need to be re-decorated - but I can't set it upright on my own, and some of the ornaments are broken now and the water in from the bucket has soaked lots of toys.
The cat has been banished to the kitchen where I can hear him wrecking things.
Matthew is starting to sadly realise that in order to ever have a sitcom get all the way to screen, he's going to have to tone down and ignore his natural style and personal preferences, and instead concentrate on writing something that 'fits' easilly. He may also just be wallowing in misery like a big girl though.

The earlier ones were good. I was less keen on the latter ones. My Italian detective of choice would be Montalbano or Brunetti. Or maybe Frosto or Morsi.
