Written by the brothers who wrote Roman's Empire unless I've very much mistaken.

Ah, the Arrested Development rip off. I remember it not well.

I thought Guantanamo Phil started badly (the airport arrival was just stupid), but it had some funny moments. It's the only Comedy Showcase of this series that's actually made me laugh.

Yeah, I enjoyed this one.
One of the best of the series.

It wasn't too bad I thought, some funny bits, but how would this work as a series? Are they going to go on about him having been locked up every episode for two or three series? It seemed more like a one shot idea than a pilot for a series that could run for a few years.

Much the best in the series so far. Not sure the concept has the legs for a series, but as a one-off it was head and shoulders above the other showcase offerings.

Yeah, I enjoyed Guantanamo Phil. I'm a bit dubious about whether it has legs for a series, but Steve Edge is confident there's enough there to make a series... https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/guantanamo_phil/interview/

(Which I suppose could work. His 'friend' and neighbour, are quite funny characters, which I'd like to see more of)

I liked the scary big lady who nearly drowned him in the bath - a bit League of Gents, almost.
And I loved everyone asking him if he'd been raped. :)

The bit with the baggage conveyor belt thing was lol.

I really liked Guantanamo Phil. Little touches they added made it very funny like Phil being a manager at Woolworths. The only thing was I felt the ending was sudden and a bit rubbish. It's almost like they weren't sure where they were going to take it so they just wrapped it up very VERY quickly and went home.

I really don't know if it could work as a series...as a one-off it made me laugh but I don't think they could stretch the gag out THAT far. You'd need some very funny writers for that one!

With regard to the crazy neighbour...wasn't that the lady that played Harry Hill's mum on Channel 4 back in the 1990s?

Can't imagine there being a series in Guantanamo Phil. The lead character's far too placid.

I missed it. So I can't comment on the lead character's flacid state.
