Well I think Outnumbered should certainly be considered to be shown at a much earlier time; it might not be a studio sitcom but otherwise it fills the brief of a mainstream family show.

Has there been a non-studio sitcom in a mainstream slot before?

Sorry. It was a reference to the Nostradamus character in TMWRNJ, it's what she used to say.

:D

No need to apologise. I was merely playing the goose.

I'm not defending Big Top or the BBC. I'm saying, would you rather sell yourself to a company that puts out crap like Big Top or do what you wanna do and get on and make comedy. Think about choosing other options. Is all.

Right now, I'd sell seedy jokes to Japanese businessmen on the streets of Kings Cross in exchange for a Cup-A-Soup and a DVD box set of Dexter.

Financially speaking, the Beeb is the only game in town for commissioning new sitcoms. Channel 4 is virtually bankrupt and unless ITV has a radical shake up, I doubt my brand of comedy would get very far.

So yeah, I probably would sell out initially to earn a few quid and make a name for myself.

Sad but true. Teary

Interesting to hear from Micheal Jacob. And worrying. If Big Top was against other proposed sitcoms to be commissioned then reading between the lines the head honcho chose it over several others. We all know we could have a rummage around in critique and find a better script than anything that has been thrown up on Big Top. So was budget the over-riding decision?

What the Beeb to me have done is spent a lot of money on good comedy actors and zero on anything else. Was Big Top the cheapest so therefore won out. Because I can see little else to push it above anything the likes of us couldn't cobble together.

Note to Beeb. Put together a good script first. You don't have to have A' list actors to make a comedy work (though it helps) you have to have the raw material. Even great actors cannot make a success out of poor writing and I'm sorry to say that's what Big Top is. That's not jealousy or anything else other than my honest opinion.

I see someone dear to all our hearts has now joined the debate on Micheal's blog:

Aaron may take away his login,

Isn't he back, or are we talking about someone else? I get confused. Who am I again?

And what did I come in here for?

As I don't think it's against the BCG site rules to speculate about the identity of users on another site, I believe the Bravehearted one might be reminiscent of the person you know as 'Roodeye'.

Ah we're getting down to the nitty gritty at last!

You don't say that was him as well? :O He disguises his personas so expertly, may I suggest next time "Lon Chaney"?

If I start to come on here under a pseudonym, I'm signing in as 'Alex Jones' and will spend most of my time accusing (Mossad Agents) Sootyj and Moonstone as being the real culprits behind 9/11.

Maybe Daniel Peak doesn't want to ignore the knockers. Maybe he likes the knockers.

That Micheal Jacob -- what a sheep, writing to please and appease us...

Has this joke been left to me? Do I *have* to..?
