If by sad you mean boring. Then yes, yes it is.
Quote: James Cotter @ December 10 2009, 2:56 PM GMTFrom what I've read they aren't that similar apart from the two points you raised. My character is slightly more similar to Wilfred Paterson (David Haig) in Playing Sandwiches, one of Alan Bennett's Talking Heads.
Speaking of Alan Bennett, I'd advise any writers to get on iPlayer and watch two of the shows broadcast as part of 'Alan Bennett Week' - 'Bennett on Bennett' and the Mark Lawson interview. They are full of good insights on writing, plus in the Mark Lawson interview Alan Bennett uses the word "c**t", and in the documentary he sings the theme tune to Last Of The Summer Wine using a couple of lines from Philip Larkin's famous poem, 'This Be The Verse'... i.e. 'They f**k you up your Mum and Dad/They fill you with the faults they had...'
No I don't, you strange little pervert.

Bennett is tedious shite.

He always strikes me as a more masculine Aaron.
Quote: Tim Walker @ December 10 2009, 2:51 PM GMTIt's a great performance by Sellers and a generally sweet film. The satirical element of the story drags a bit and is rather too implausible. Don't worry, James, it has very little to do with gardening really.

I concur.
I'm a huge Alan Bennett fan. Very understated, very accurate and very funny.
The way I see it is, we're all talking heads anyway.

The Habit Of Art looks like another winner.

Well I wouldn't say this. Only those worth hearing will do that.

The clips looked good on the show.
I thought Aaron would like Bennett; he's very British.
