More great releases from Network to come Page 5

I heard on the grapevine they wanted to release Hardwicke House on DVD - maybe that could happen afterall!

Oh my f**king God! How the hell did they manage that? Whenever there is a 'shows you'd like to see on DVD' type thread that is the first one I flag up. What do we reckon guys, uncut? You see this is what amazes me about this game; good clean wholesome fun like 'Sykes' is stalled, yet a show that has possible controversial ramifications like 'Curry and Chips' ... hey, come in, make yourself comfortable. Hey, I have an idea for a thread...

The Sykes release stoppage was down to poor sales and ridiculous BBC prices. Ditto Till Death Us Do Part. IMO the poor sales were down to shocking marketing on Network's part.

With Curry & Chips, it's probably safe to say that anyone buying it will know what it is beforehand, but yes, still possibly troublesome.

Will it be the 6 episodes that were shown or are there more un - broadcast episodes included?

AFAIK all episodes were broadcast. Similar shows such as The Melting Pot remain mostly unseen though. And...

I'm looking forward to the porn version - Kneel, Honey, I'm Home!

Certainly looks to have potential.

It's a social document in many ways - I think it's right to make them them available because it reflects society as it was rather than what it is.

It was one of those things that mad a stir at the time but viewed now we'd probably wonder what's all the fuss about?

...and I still want to find your avatar!

Ironically, Eric Sykes is in 'Curry & Chips'

Have you placed your order, Jack?

Have you placed your order, Jack?

No. I'm in two minds whether to buy it or not. I've seen three episodes, the first one was very good, the other two were a dissapointment. For more on that, read my review of it on IMDB - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063888/usercomments - my IMDB name is Victor Meldrew.

If I were to buy it, it would be online, I'd be far too scared to go to the shops and buy it.

Also being released by Network on the same day is a controversial play by Johnny Speight titled 'If there weren't any blacks, we'd have to invent them'. Leonard Rossiter is in it and it's a play that is regarded as a cult classic.

Ha, you big wimp!

(It'll be far, far cheaper online anyway. You're wasting your money if you buy in-store.)

Haven't heard of that one. I'll have to check it out.

Yup, that's why I made the connection. ;)

(Oh, and it's not ironic. It's coincidental.)

Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width is coming to Network in June. However the release I'm most looking forward to is also coming out in June, the first series Backs To The Land a 1970s sitcom about the Women's Land Army during World War II. My mate said he watched it at the time and said it was a cross between Two in Clover and the Dad's Army episode All Is Safely Gathered In. Been something I've wanted to watch for a while, so looking forward.

BTW, the infomation on this site about Backs To The Land says that after the success of Dad's Army many Second World War sitcoms were commisioned including Get Some In!. Get Some In! wasn't a second world war sitcom, it was set in the 1950s. Sorry to sound like a twat, but I just thought it was worth pointing out.

Well spotted.

I don't think I'm looking forward to any one of the upcoming releases more than another. They all look great, and I long to own the lot!
