RQ: A second world war sitcom name

Hello,

About 10 years ago I watched a hillarious Brittish sitcom about young military officer's "adventures" during the second world war. All I remember is that this lad /the military officer/ had funny ears like Martin Clunes, the title had something to do with an ever green song from the 40's, there were very "mad" military coleagues in the military office and also a beautyfull lady in red dress which finally got in love with our protagonist.

I'll appreciate very much if someone could remember the title of this sitcom.

Thanks a lot in advance.

'Allo, 'Allo?

Well it's not 'Allo, 'Allo.
It's something less popular.

Just naming wartime comedies...

Goodnight Sweetheart?

Thanks a lot for your efforts, but it's not "Goodnight sweetheart" either, although I know my series description sounds very much like it.
The young lad was maybe a secretary to the second military minister or something like that, I can't remember well.

Sure it was set during the war? Sounds quite like a 1999 BBC sitcom called All Along The Watchtower.

If that's what I think it is Aaron, that's what I thought of first.

It starred wasisface who played Jim Royle in Alastair McGowan's The Royle Family spoofs.

get some in. i think that was 70s though.

I'm not sure who you mean? But I remember the set designs were very grey and dreary looking.

Yeah, quite a while back, that. I'm pretty sure it's been repeated relatively recently though, quite possibly within the past 10 years. The theme tune was nothing like an "evergreen" song though.

First of all - Thanks again lads for trying to help.

In fact it's possible that that the series weren't exactly for the second world war, but I'm sure that all characters were dressed in brown and grey like in the 40's - 50's, the main character /with big funny ears/ was poor, he had come to London from some little village and was given the military job because of some relative's protection.

Ah Deano, I love these threads. You've got me intrigued now! *investigates*

A little thing I should specify - I am from Bulgaria, so these series may be far than 10 years old.

I'm glad you enjoy this :), I just hope that I'm not misleading you somehow with my vague memories on this.
I remembered also that there were only 6 episodes of these tv series.

Wouldn't have been The Piglet Files, would it? Again, a lot of your memories don't add-up for it, but some points are similar.
