I'm in the middle of writing a sitcom based around industry.
Furthest you've got with a sitcom Page 2
6 sitcom pilots / 2 screenplays.
I mentioned this before somewhere but look at this link.

Access should be free. It gives addresses in the appropriate section of production companies and agents who look at unsolicited material.
Thanks for the link. I don't recall seeing this before.
I actually bought the book and found several addresses. I'm still awaiting loads of (hopeful) responses though.
In answer to the original question, I've fully planned out a whole 7-episode series, developed characters, and written some of the first episode. Never sent anything off though.
Quote: David Chapman @ October 4, 2007, 8:35 PMThe thing is Dale I think the overall idea of the site is to celebrate and discuss existing sitcoms.
The writers part is just a part of it - and it's easier to put on and comment on sketches.
Correct.
I've planned out 6 episodes, and written one, and sent it out to some people. I should probably get round to sending it out to some more, but I keep thinking I should change it all beforehand in case I ruin my chances with them forever.
Ah, the paralysing effects of self doubt...
Oh, and I got the theme tune all sorted. I found that that was what really inspired me and spurred me on, strangely enough.

Go on, sing it to us
I ain't an expert but it seems the best way to break in is to send 'broken comedy' - sketches or just individual gags. An entire sitcom is just too costly and risky for companies to invest in, unless it's written by God. Build up a base, then try something more adventurous... Sorry for saying this YET AGAIN, but the best book I've read on this is John Byrne's 'Writing Comedy', which I really do recommend.

Have you shown it to anyone for an unbiased viewpoint.

I couldn't possibly!

Yeah a couple of real life people.
I don't want to put my stuff up here for some reason. Dunno why, I love you all really. : )
"It's the Aaron show!" with special guest Boris Johnson.
Aaron: Hello Dad.
Boris: Hello son!
End.

Just got to second that... a fantastic book, whatever type of comedy you enjoy writing.
I see Andrew Collins hasn't posted yet. I believe he's done quite well with his efforts.
