I just saw an advert for this. Just showed who's in it.
Big Top Page 2
Half past 7 on a Wednesday? Are they hoping this will be considered buried treasure, or something?
I think they're hoping it'll slip by unnoticed and they won't have to face making another series.
I've got high hopes for this. What with Danny Peak being such a talented writer and all.
Just checked what other comedies Amanda has been in: Kiss Me Kate and Mad About Alice, which also featured Jamie Theakston IIRC.
Wow. Just read a savage review (by Radio Times standards) . . .

Indeed he was. A rather ... interesting series.
Although Jamie Theakston did try to get freebies out of prostitutes in a massage parlour. Which is quite funny.

When I was young this was a standard sitcom time slot.
When you were younger, they were played out on stage!

Yeah. And me.
The show is currently being reviewed on Front Row. It is not that good.
When I first read about this show, I imagined it to be a show with no studio audience/canned laughter because as it has a Circus/Big Top circus tent setting I thought the scale of the show would be too big to be filmed infront of a studio audience on sets. I saw the trailer for it today and was horrorfied to see that there IS studio audience/canned laughter, and it probably will be as bad as the RadioTimes said it was.

True. I'm sure I remember Terry And June being shown at 7:30 a few times.
Lol....just came across this posting about big top.
Funny how the show is MY idea, yet I never heard a word about it!
A friend of mine who I used to work at Celador Productions with, just gave me a call, and said "Jeff, you know that circus pilot 'Big Top' you wrote and showed to the team at Celador a few years back?.... Well a six-show series is just about to start"
Imagine my surprise!
Need to do some more investigation into this.... a bit of recognition for a pilot I wrote 4-5 years ago would be nice!
Interesting to see what the commissioned writer has done with it.... they've changed the names, and the ring-master is now a lady.....but it's definitely mine.
Guess I'll have to wait till monday to see the full list of credits, so I can trace back exactly where this was commissioned from.
Cheeky buggers!
