I'm making lamb stew tonight, so that will most likely f**k up the statistic Randy mentioned.
Mmm lamb!
Shh!
Incidentally, I had a dream I was accidentally eating something with meat in last night, and when I realised. I didn't stop!
I gave myself a good beating when I woke up. But then again, I normally do
Quote: Dolly Dagger @ November 24 2009, 8:09 PM GMTStill you can't beat British lamb and beef.
Chicken. Pork.
Easy.
Quote: zooo @ November 24 2009, 8:45 PM GMTOoh 'beat the meat'. That was a thing for that big paper mache headed dude in the 90s.
Mr Motivator?
Quote: DaButt @ November 24 2009, 8:46 PM GMTI just read that Texas alone has 13 million head of cattle. The entire UK has 10 million.
Quality over quantity.
Quote: Sonofjoe @ November 24 2009, 9:17 PM GMTWatched a 1000 ways to die the other night and a couple ate live snails but they have some kinda worms in them that work their way up to your brain and eat it, so they died.

Quote: billwill @ November 25 2009, 12:22 AM GMThence the pgrase "long pig".
...?
The weirdest meat I have tried is venison. Never again.
I would like to try water buffalo, and now deep fried turkey. Although I hate turkey so I'm not sure how that would turn out.
I would love to sample a meat between Nick Jonas & Eminem
Of course I mean meet and in a musical way.
It would be a weird one

Good grief - if it is true and not a fake, it does kinda show how low people will go. Yes, we're animals. Yes, nature is cruel and at the same time hideously beautiful. But we are human. Eating a live animal (fish, monkey brains, etc) is demonstrating a willingness to inflict agony on another creature for pleasure, rather than the more basic urge to eat to survive.
I'm not saying ban meat eating in all forms. I'm just saying give the animal as dignified and as painless a death as possible.
I have eaten water buffalo and kudu (antelope). Not alive.

I've eaten steaks and burgers in Texas and England. I think we have the quality category sewn up, too.

The benefit of deep frying a turkey is that the juices are sealed in by the crispy skin (OMG, the skiiiiinnnnn ) and it's MUCH more moist than a traditional turkey. But I don't mind dry-ish turkey breast either, so I can't complain.

My mother in law makes a mean turkey jerky. She cooks her holiday turkeys almost 2 hours beyond the recommended time (on average). The last turkey I cooked was tender enough to cut with the side of your fork. Mmm.
Deep fried turkey is great, but it sucks for those with pesky peanut allergies. I've tasted turkey fried in canola, and it just isn't the same.
When I first heard about Deep-fried Turkey I thought yes the Yanks are mad. Now I know about Deep-fried Turkey I think Yes the Yanks are mad.

All because of what you're used to. And probably eating in McDonald's.

Eww, McDonald's.
Texas is famous for steaks and England is famous for fish and chips. I'm sure each place is capable of whipping up a decent example of the other's specialty, but that doesn't negate their reputation.
"England" is famous for the pork pie, the Yorkshire pudding, the spotted Dick...the list goes on and on.
To be fair, I think DaButt has a better perspective to judge what England is most famous for.
But LIME5000 listed some good'uns.
Quote: LIME5000 @ November 25 2009, 5:59 PM GMT"England" is famous for the pork pie
"Sex, Pork Pies, and Videotape"
But in all fairness...Texas is a state, we're a country. A bit "Ooh look at our big ding dong, let me slap you with it." Aint it.
