Independence Day

ESTAB. EXT. TYPICAL AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL – DAY

INT. SCHOOL - CLASSROOM - DAY

The TEACHER is talking to the class. Behind her is a blackboard upon which is written "War of Independence 1775 – 1783". She's finished teaching and gathers her papers together.

TEACHER:
That's how the United States won its independence. As you go about the rest of your day, please spare a thought for our forefathers who fought and died in that war. And remember, if it wasn't for their sacrifice, today we'd all be speaking English!

Nice. :D

That's great! In fact more than great. Inspired!

A fantastic first post.

Anymore?

Neat, would work well as a dropped in line in a bigger script.

:D

Really good :)

Hahaha. Nice.

That's funny.

Just a thought. Would it be improved if you subtly worked in one of those annoying Americanisms such as 'gotten' just to underpin the idea? May be gilding the lily, but as it stands the teacher does seem to speak perfect English. Okay so call me a nitpicking twat, why don't you!

Thanks to everyone who commented.
