Fawlty Towers immitation? 80s?

I remember a show being on years ago (never saw it right through - only bits and peices) and it seemed to me to be a copy of Basil and Manuel (sp?) from Fawlty T. My guess is it was probably made in the 80s. I didn't think it was funny. Seemed very forced. Anyone know what this show was. The Manuel copy might have been Italian. It might have been something to do with an embacy?

Anyone know what this was? Maybe it was Australian not British - not sure.

Angry - I'm going to give you a damn good thrashing!!!

I also recall a crap 80s sitcom in which the main character was like a poor imitation of Basil Fawlty in terms of moustache (I think), voice and mannerisms. I think he was a diplomat. It wasn't an Australian show.

Farrington Of The F.O. was set in an embassy. Not watched it yet though, so can't say if it matches your other criteria.

For some reason, The House Of Windsor is now springing to mind.

The idea of Prince Phil shouting at Al Fayed and smacking his head with a spoon comes to me.
