It is relevant because Stewart Lee is a fantastic barometer of what is 'right and wrong' - for want of a better phrase. It beggars belief that you cannot see this, unless ofcourse you are being deliberately contrary.
Top Gear - Series 14 (Autumn/Winter 2009) Page 4
Stewart Lee doesn't like them, but he realises that everyone else does -- he said it in his show on Wednesday night.
That said, he uses it for comedic effect. The outrage he has is a stage thing. I think people are (to put it politely) seriously naive if they think any of the Top Gear bunch or the on-stage/TV Stewart Lee is anything but a comedy persona.
Clarkson has realised what that persona must convey, in order to make a shit-load of money. He's basically a very clever comedian.
Dan
Clarkson of course famously doesn't ever do interviews, so maybe he's hiding a whole diferent persona.
Didn't he get in a fistfight with AAGill or some other posh cock?
He's mates (or was mates -- not heard about the fight) with AA Gill.
Now there's a man who doesn't understand comedy persona -- he truly is a cock who doesn't like anything in the whole world ever.
Dan

I'm a big fan of Stewart Lee (see my sig for further details), but I can separate his stand-up from a real life person. And I also can find him a hugely entertaining and important comedian without feeling the need to agree with him on every single opinion he expresses (whether in jest or with sincerity).
I'm surprised you're advising everyone to have a slave-like drone mentality in relation to the opinions of Stewart Lee, when it seems contradictory to your original complaint about Top Gear viewers having a herd mentality.

He's mates with AA Gill (or "Adrian" as he likes to call him). He did however once punch Piers Morgan, which seems like fair comment to me.

Punching Piers Morgan in the face was probably my favourite Jeremy Clarkson act and probably one of my favourite acts by any person ever.

Agreed
It takes a decisive person to punch a face as huge as Piers Morgans.
It'd be like landing a mosquito on Mars.
By which I mean Piers has a huge face and smells and urinates in phone boxes.
I hate him.
I didn't see Ellie btw. Did anyone else spot her.
Dan
I posted this elsewhere. I think that's her on the right side of the screen.
Good spot! If it is her -- I still can't tell
Dan
But she's not wearing a red top
I'm pretty sure that's Ellie. Red top, black cardigan.
You'd think they'd give everybody plastic injection moulded chairs to sit on.

Looks like a crap Starsky & Hutch and some other guy (Hammond Bear, maybe?).
