Miranda - Series 1 Page 20

I like it. It's got a charm lacking in so much comedy nowadays. I still worry that it'll find an audience, though. Chipolata Snr - who this sort of comedy should appeal to - watched five minutes and was bored. Hopefully, the rest of the viewing public won't follow my dad's lead.

Did you tell him that he was a silly old sausage?

I haven't spoken to him for eighteen years. It was my mom who told me he didn't like it, having spent the previous week telling her he was very excited about it.

That's a shame.

I am pretty sure people won't pay you for it Jim, have you had offers? What do you get paid for?

Magic Circle Law.

I was invited to become a member of the magic circle once. I used to do a stand up magic act for kids.

Someone once told me that Show Two was often used to place a weaker episode.
Something to do with getting it out of the way while people are still giving you the benefit of the doubt.
Don't know if that's true - but I hope it is, as I found this episode a deal weaker than the opener.
Just felt a bit messy.
Lots of funny stuff - just not so well put together.
Fingers crossed for Show 3.
Still a fan, though.
For the time being.

I finally managed to watch the second episode and I really liked it. Let's hope the rest of the series is as good as the first two episodes.

Yes it did seem rushed or badly edited to me. A lot going on, maybe enough stuff for two episodes in there. Hopefully this is a good sign for the rest of the series.

I do like the back-to-basics Laurel & Hardy-style slapstick and Miranda looking at the camera/audience with an expression of despair.

This is probably the funniest studio audience sitcom since 'Black Books'. I would say 'My Family' but that show just doesn't know when to stop and has now mutated into such a dire, unfunny mess.

And the cutaways/fanatsies are much funnier and more effective than those from 'Reggie Perrin' (2009) - at times 'Miranda' is like a live-action 'Family Guy'.

The writers need to come up with a storyline that shows Miranda in a different light, if only fleetingly, so we can see some depth to her character.

I think they will.

As I said...

She said on Twitter yesterday that those were the only two 'love' episodes like that, and that they were just setting up for the rest of the run.

So does that mean her boyfriend will no longer be in it? That's going to throw a lot of viewers I reckon. Having said that, it's wise, because it was getting very samey, that relationship thread. Hope the new threads take us somewhere new then.

Oh I doubt he'll be dropped. Just that the focus of the episodes will differ.

I agree.
