TV Things You Didn't Get For Ages

Reading the Miranda thread I was reminded that when I was young I totally misunderstood the bit at the end of David Croft shows where it said "You Have Been Watching." I used to think it just meant I had been watching television and they were showing off about the fact that they had viewers. Took me ages to realise they were saying who I had been watching in the cast.

On similar lines, it only just occured to me last week that Q.I is I.Q backwards.

Do BCGers have any similar confessions to not getting something about a TV show until much later?

Bless!

I thought all the actors in 'Allo 'Allo! were really French.

I only just realised today that Joe Swash is entirely unsuitable for broadcast.

*NB I didn't know a Joe Swash existed until today

I seem to remember watching HIGNFY and not really knowing what they were really talking about but still laughing to give the impression I did. :$

"Why do only fools and horses work?"

I always thought that Del Boy was trying to pull his scams on all kinds of people, but that said scams only worked on "fools and horses", whatever they may be.

It never occured to me that it might mean "only fools and horses have jobs" until last week.

For real.

Laughing out loud
I'm laughing with you, not at you. Honest.

Did I tell you this last weekend Badge? I know I told somebody, but I can't remember if it was you or not. ;)

Amazingly, I'd never even heard of the phrase "lunch monkeys" until a recent sitcom propelled it into my consciousness. :O

I was older than I want to admit to being when I realized that fags were cigarettes...

When you tried to "bum" one?

I only just realised that Noel Edmonds is made entirely out of wool and Ant (from Ant & Dec) is made out of ply wood.

No, wasn't me. Or if it was I can't remember either. Funny thing, beer...

If that were true, what would it do to Aaron's love for the show?

:D

And Terry Wogan doesn't actually wear a wig, it's all just done by mass hypnotic suggestion. :(

That Parkinson's Disease wasn't named after Micheal Parkinson.

The whole 'Jedward' phenomenon was created using a very highly-polished mirror.
