The Doctor's going all Gordon Brown.
What are you watching on TV? Page 1,031
I'm how the Doctor does so much, but seemingly never changes the course of the future irrecovably.
Time isn't linear.
Nor is any of it real so...you know. Just enjoy it.
Shup, Gav. Is so real.
LOL!

Even so, there'd surely be consequences. Y'know, despite them having to go all round the houses first.

I think Who works on the basis of the multiverse theory, where every decision at quantum level means "reality" sprouts off into two possible outcomes - or two possible universes. This is done ad infinitum, until one has an infinte number of universes with an infinite number of time-lines. This is partly a way of explaining how to resolve the age-old "grandfather" paradox in relation to time travel.
That, and as Gav said, it's a TV show.

As time isn't linear, the consequences of his later actions can be felt before he's done them.

*ker-ching!*

Tch. More realism please.
But when they kept Rose's dad alive, some things came and got angry!

That's because there is a continuity thing with the show, I'd love to see those creatures back.
First time I've watched Doctor Who for years and I see some things haven't changed -
Obligatory Gay Reference - Cosmonaut's brother is a flamer.
Logic being glossed over - the Doctor travels through time every single week altering history - bunch o' foos.
The Running, oh the Running - American shows have car chases and shoot outs - but being British, we replace action with constant Time Lord mini-marathons.
Completely unscary monsters - oh no, they are made of water, that's frightening. I like the way they had to write in certain bits to explain away the cack logic - um, they have internal fission, yeah, that's it, that's why they don't freeze - wouldn't the fission just boil the water into vapour? - Like shut up.
The David Tennent Emotional Arc - I'm grinning, I'm angry and now I'm sad.
As for Aaron's 'flames on Mars', he is totally correct but missed completely the fact that the robot had jet engines built into it in the first place.
I love sci-fi and suspending my disbelief, but the writers aren't helping.

I didn't notice that! Whose?

They addressed that.

The Commie-naut was looking at a recording of his brother and laughing and said 'this is my brother Mikhail, his husband George bought him a birthday present, it was a car.'
Personally, I didn't find the joke that funny, but then again, I'm not a Russian.
