Is anyone else confused by the England 2018 World Cup bid? I mean I can get my head round the idea that we are bidding for it but I don't get what could possibly costing us this much money.

The figures being thrown around in this article are, frankly, ridiculous. The idea that someons is being paid £100,000 a year to hep us bid for, not even plan, a World Cup is unbelievable. England is not a difficult country to sell in footballing terms, we have fans, stadia, transport links and security. Why millions of pounds need to be spent for a bit of corporate schmoozing for the suits over at Fifa is a bit beyond me.

Sepp Blatter is constantly seen to make noises endorsing one candidate and then another, clearly it is in his interest to draw out these campaigns so that Fifa's profile is raised along with his own. As sporting bodies go Fifa is only second to FIA in terms of how much of a sham it is. The introduction of seeding halfway through the current World Cup Qualification process has shown the favour given to bigger nations.

No wonder people baulk at the financial numbers in football when things like this are so accepted thy fly under the radar.

(Oh and I'm sorry this post wasn't about either Chelsea or Manchester United. Wave)

Watching Ireland and France tonight, being half Irish, I'll be chearing for them, come on Robbie Keane. Does anyone know if the second leg on Wednesday will be televised or not?

Half time, Brazil v England 0-0. Nice game, am really enjoying it. Some nice play from both sides.

Bollocks :(

Not bad considering we lacked a real midfield and the conditions which we were playing in

Conditions? What was wrong with them? Anyway it was a nice game, and we had a fair few chances.

Ohh, I geddit. You were talking about Manu, weren't you?

I mean the heat and humidity that you don't usually get in the premiership. you saw how much some of them were sweating in the first 15 or so minutes

Oh right, I see. I suppose so. Yeah we did all right. I thought we were going to equalise near the end when Crouch crossed in, but I think 1-0 was a truer reflection of the game anyway.

Watching that one myself Jack, 0-0 half time, though the Republic better team so far. On RTE it will defo be televised, whether you can get that through Freeview/Sky I'm not sure. I would expect Sky to show it tbh.

Anyone seen the stadium for Wroclaw in Poland for Euro2012? It's very impressive.

:D

Well, it must be a problem for them, what with all the Polish skilled labour being over here...

I wasn't at all interested in the England game. A total waste of time as far as I'm concerbed.

I agree totally. Where does all this money go except Jack Warner's pockets?

Does anyone think Ireland have got a chance of qualifying? I might put a fiver on them, if the odds are decent. It's gonna be a scrap from start to finish, so you never know.
