Family Tree/ Relation Puzzle - Help!

I can't work it out and my head is getting mashed. Can anyone work out how someone is related to me albeit very thinly?

My grandad got married. He had 2 children A & B. then he divorced.

He then met a woman who was already pregnant (child C), married her and brought C up as his own.

Then he had another child (D) with the same woman. Making C & D Half Brother and Sister.

This also made D Half Brother to A & B.

what relationship even distantly are A & B to C?

Step siblings I think.

I have a half-sister who has a half-brother who is not related to me. It's a bit weird.

i understand the step thing, but as thinking that because my mums half brother has a half sister that somewhere they are related by blood, even very thinly maybe a 5th or quarter or something, I don't know lols.

thats why my heads mashed :)

thats what I meant to put lols, both my mum and my auntie share the same blood as their half brother.

My mums dad is his dad, but his mum is my aunties mum

I don't think there is an official title for that relation. I'd unofficially call it brother/sister by marriage...I suppose :) step?

I always thought step siblings shared no blood at all tho?

If they they both have the same half brother then they are linked by his blood and not just the marriage.

[weeps] Its all a big mush lols

Step-siblings.

i.e. no relation, or - as you were probably getting at - yes you can sleep with her.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

wrong sex for a start lols

I think in order for it NOT to be step you have to have one parent in common...I think...or am I reading it wrong? lol...now my brain is mush as well

You see?!!!! You see what it does to the brain!!!!! :)

They are step siblings as the others have said.

Why the question? Just for interest or is there something else?

basically I always thought that my auntie, my 2 uncles and my mum had the same parents.

Then in 2003 when my Nan wa dying I was told that in fact she wasn't my Nan at all.

In 2008 my mum came clean and said that my auntie didn't even have the same dad as her, meaning that she technically wasnt related and neither were my cousins. But they still shared a half brother (my half uncle), so I was wondering if they were even 1/5th or 1/4th or 1/6th of siblings or something like that and what relation she was and my cousins are to me

Suppose Step will do

less presents to buy and funerals/weddings/christenings/ re-birthings to attend :P

That is quite a tangled web...

I wouldnt be surprised to find out that my real grandparents were Mork and effing Mindy

Forget blood and genes etc. If your Nan took the role of Nan in your life and your cousins took the role of cousins, it doesn't matter, they're family. :)

Yeah, you're related by marriage only.

But like SlagA said and as in the case of adoption, having the same genes isn't the be all and end all. :)
