Thanks Frankie but it was getting a bit much wasn't it. I actually really like KP's stuff. He comes across as a bit hot headed at times though and definately can't take criticism. Though I suppose I might find it difficult to take that kind of criticism from someone who doesn't seem to write much good comedy himself [W/L]. We should get Gervais on here to have a go at his stuff, he'd have to shut up then :D

By the way are you one of the Junk Males frankie ?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I must admit I actually like Winterlights dark sketches quite a bit. But it's all subjective isn't it? I do like some of KP's stuff and I'm liking quite a lot of what he's currently up to. His MySpace site is worth a visit!

I am in the JunkMales group yes, mainly backroom but I do a bit in front of the camera too and we may yet film one of my sketches or comedy songs, we'll have to see!

My argument is, and I probably point this to people like Winterlight (who is probably a lovely person when you get to know him/her) , unless you can write seriously good comedy yourself, be a little less eager to criticise others.

That is probably the most arrogant thing i've read on the internet and i've visited rickygervais.com. Everyone is entitled to their view and the writer is always entitled to defend their piece however snide attacks and put downs undermine the validity of these views. And I have to say commenting on something which has not been posted for review on the critique forum is petty and childish.

As for the original article i found it a bit too predictable and at times shockingly crude 'an arse bandit is an arse bandit?' My advice would be to make it more funny by, as Mark said, using less well known stereotypes and show that you have put more effort into its construcution.

I feel as though the criticism was constructive. As many people have said on here, its predictable and goes after easy targets.

To be fair, I think that it was a parody of magazine questionnaire's.

A parody should me more intellegent than the subject matter in my opinion.

Oh, I was critiquing it, I was just suggesting that - whatever the outcome - it came from noble intentions.

I found it kind of predictable. I don't see how anything like this could get any further than being an email forward.

Winterlight I love your dark sketches btw!!! :)

What I found offensive about your post was the second sentence. It's unnecessary and not part of your critique. To me it sounds derogatory although maybe you meant no offence, but at the time and because I rated the KP piece very highly myself, it read that way.

No offence intended to anybody on my part. I am pretty much the teddy bear I'm accused of being elsewhere on these forums, the Frankie Rage tag being ironic, if I ever have any real rage it's firmly directed at myself or the government. :)

If I burst into this thread singing Cilla Blacks' "Surprise surprise" with a tea cosy on my head, will this distracted everyone enough not to nit pick, causing bad feeling all around and get to the point of offering Pete feedback so he can do his rewrites and stuff?

No? ........How about if I play it on the banjo too?

Spread the love!

Don't worry Rube, we've just about done I reckon, sorry if we've upset the fluffy toys! ;)

I doubt if anybody who wants to comment on KP's piece has been put off doing so (other than perhaps by KP himself).

A few us do like the odd debate, between cakes... ;)

Love to all, of course, always!!!

arkRed">What the hell was that.

A distraction followed by my version of "CALM DOWN".

I think it's just better to ignore stupid comments rather than attack even if it's with the best of intentions. It's too easy to forget the reason why we are reading this in the first place. A writer needs feedback to improve his work.

A distraction

A wonderful distraction too.
;)
I knew where you were coming from.
