Who said "ok, ya"? Page 2

Yes but that doesn't mean he didn't adopt it or even adapt it from real Sloanies. I remember the early Fergie used to say it a lot in that very loud and pushy voice of hers before she'd married that playboy prince bloke. It's possible its usage happened the other way around but if you had any dealings in the early yuppified 80s around Ken&Chelsea way then you would have heard loads of horsey birds saying that and worse.

Just remembered Sarah in The New Statesman said 'ya' a lot as well IIRC.

Thanks you guys. I'm sure it was Dear John.... Great stuff.

Yes it was a Tracy Ullmann character from 'Three Of A Kind'

When I first watched Three Of A Kind, I had a friend who sounded and acted EXACTLY like that character. It was quite disconcerting!

No.

It was definitely in Dear John....

It was Dear John. Lousie (Rachel Bell) said it a lot.

"Where there any ... sexual problems?"

It was an advert for a beer that affected the parts others couldn't reach, wasn't it?

Oh yeah, there was that Heineken advert where the yuppie woman is taught by 'reverse elocution' how not to speak 'properly'. A sort-of reverse Pygmalion/My Fair Lady...

"The water in Majorca don't taste like what it oughta..." I believe. :)

Here it is Heineken Majorca Ad (1985)

zooo's at uni with that lady. We were watching the advert just a couple of days ago.
