Did anyone see that story in the news about the Ralph Lauren model. She was a size 8 and was fired because she refused to lose anymore weight. Thy even photoshopped a picture of her for their ad campain making her look so thin, it shocked her.

This was the ad.

Image

Ralph Lauren deny firing her for not losing weight and claim this pic was released by accident. If so, why did they not withdraw it?

OMG! Where do her internal organs go?

Okay.... Please don't take offence, I say this all out of love. No one is stopping you believing what you want to believe or standing by something you feel strongly about. You don't have agree with anything we say but the thing is people are going to have different opinions. You are asking us to listen to your point of view and we have and we have been sharing our own. Some of us happen to hold our own opinions and you are not the only person here who has formed their opinions based on life experiences and things they have seen or have happened to them. You are asking us not to belittle you for having a strong opinion on a subject you feel passionately about but may I remind you that turning around and pointing the finger, however justified you feel in doing so, you are doing the same thing back. No offence intended at all Dolly, your opinion does matter but you can't keep turning around and saying we are being cliquey or putting you down or ignoring you everytime we don't automatically agree with what you are saying because all that does is alienate the very people you feel are alienating you for standing by your beliefs and you will end up being left out in the end because people will eventually stop sympathising. If people are being horrible to you BE THE BIGGER PERSON! Ignore them. Don't reply to them and just reply to those who are not trying to wind you up. Rise above it and you won't feel so bad, I promise. I only say all this because there are people here, me included, who really like you and don't want to see you freeze yourself out.

Hug

I wouldn't have gone quite as long-winded as that, but yes.

Most men don't want women to be smarter, more talented or interesting then them.

I do. And wealthier would be good too.

I do. And wealthier would be good too.

Oh well. I've got all three so maybe I should just be grateful.

If men really find intelligent and interesting women more attractive, why isn't there porn which includes women being intelligent and mysterious?

Lena Olin's character in The Unbearable Lightness of Being comes immediately to mind, but I guess that's more erotic than pornographic. So probably no point in also mentioning Betty Blue or Jamon Jamon or whatever else I used to watch in the days before the internet.

Men don't want to be seen as so shallow, but the truth is they generally are.

I'm quite shallow, but also irritatingly conceited.
