I do believe that porn has been largely responsible for the way women are viewed by men in today society. Many men have a rather bizzare view of what a woman should look like and be like and that puts pressure on women. However I do believe that the issue when it comes to sexual drive and porn in relationships lies with the individual, not the sex industry. It's the individual who chooses to go into the shop and purchases the DVD to watch. To me, it's in the same region as blaming rap music for encouraging drug use or TV for encourage violence. Many people have seen and heard the exact same thing and they have not all reacted in the same way. It's down to that one person.
This is a much more relevant point, especially in today's society. Porn doesn't encourage rape, if a person is capable of doing such act, then they'll do it, and I imagine much quicker because they have no other outlet.
I think what Ruby says here, and above posts is a better argument against porn. It sends a confusing message to young girls. I agree, but peer pressure on the boys side doesn't help either, which in turn can encourage the growth of that "bimbo" image. Some of are conditioned, like the girls to believe that that certain look, is the correct one.
On the plus side, the very dirty plus side, what porn can also do, is help us realise that there are many more different tastes out there, whatever you like, you can find it. We will no longer be ruled, by the mainstream magazines and hopefully one day, it would be obvious that any shape, size, look and colour is cool. [/hippy]
