I don't think you'll find anyone here who has "blamed a religion and all who follow it."

Perhaps not "all who follow it", but posts like:

A bunch of Islamic terrorists who did exactly what they wanted to do: kill and terrorize non-Muslims.

...certainly suggest that blaming the religion is exactly what YOU are doing.

And if the 7/7 bombers were so concerned about only killing non-Muslims, then London was a terrible choice of target.

Let's be clear here: the 'Muslim' hate against our countries is nutjob clerics with an axe to grind, for whatever reason(s), against us in specific (e.g. due to the war), or to the West in general (for our debauched culture). They use religion is the reason and motivation to brainwash their intellectually subnormal followers into carrying out the terrorist acts. It's true that the Koran is worded and presented in such a way that this is possible, but it's not inherent to the religion as why they do it.

Culture. Not religion.

Heheh, quite.

RC, I like to imagine that you're the sort of person who will silently and carefully evaluate and judge the innocent pedestrians on Grand Theft Auto before killing most of them, as "scum". ;)

My biggest regret with GTA is that none of the pedestrians had prams. I can't speak for anyone else's experiences, but round here, the young mums use their strollers as battering rams.

I think the main reason this thread has gone so off topic is because somebody said that they're having a great party with lots of friends - I feel both alienated and angry by such a copious display of gregariousness and popularity.

Angry

I can remember Tony Blair coming on the news after this happened and assuring us all that not all muslims were bad, that some were actually quite nice, and we mustn't blame them. I swear to God they hadn't discovered who'd done it yet. IIRC it took them quite a while, looking at video footage and taking evidence from what remained of the scene, to get some sort of ID on the perpetrator.

To be honest, I can't even remember how we went off-topic (and I'm not going to go back and look now - are you mad?), but I know it happened very early on. I did try and steer it back at one point with talk of cheesy footballs, but to no avail.
:(

It went off-topic very early on when Aaron made a joke about a recent news story.

Well, Dr Mato's gone now and I'll doubt she'll be back.

You tried to steer it back at numerous points. But we all love a good debate, so unfortunately it was of no use.

It wasn't actually a joke. I would have described it as a "dry quip". :)

Hope you mopped up after.

That's a shame, I wanted to know what theme she went with for the party. :(

She came back last time she left, I'm sure she will again.

Absolutely not. I've made it quite clear that I don't claim that all Muslims are terrorists/evil and I don't blame the religion as a whole, but you can't deny that the 7/7 and 9/11 attackers were all devout Muslims who carried out their acts in the name of their religion and there are millions of Muslims who agree with their actions. Not all terrorists are Muslims and not all Muslims are terrorists, but all Islamic terrorists are Muslims. I can draw a Venn diagram if you'd like.

As these polls and charts show, there has been a marked decline in support for Bin Laden, Al Qaeda and suicide bombing in the Muslim world, but there are still plenty of Muslims who believe in the radical version of Islam which condones such acts, i.e. 83% of Palestinian Muslims believe bombing and violence against civilians is justified in some cases.

Huzzah in complete agreement.

Also this is one of at least 3 cases of a US soldier going nuts and shooting up his comrades recently.

The other 2 were Christians. Maybe carrying out an occupation or hearing about it f**ks you up?

DaButt I may be a bit of a Zionist. But even I can identify with the grumpiness of a people treated like crap for the last 6 decades by an occupying power.

The IDF it would appear deliberately shelled Gazas only chicken farmer killing over a 1,000,000 chickens.

Denying a people KFC, is a war crime even I can't countenance.

I seem to recall that the bombings in London were to give Britain a taste of what 'we' were doing to their countries in these ridiculous Iraq/Afghanistan wars. They were NOT straight attacks from Muslims upon non-Muslims.

So ... yeah, I can deny it, and am.
