Never knew that. It definitely was done on the cheap but was still good though.

I tend to agree because it may not hold over a third series. Possibly an Xmas special or similar but the prospect of a full blown movie scares the hell out of me considering some of the previous awful attempts to go from the small screen to the big screen.

It's a BBC show. 4oD is only C4 stuff. I know what you mean though, would be great to have a free download.

I may be among the minority but I thought that Series 2 was siginificantly worse than the first series. Personally I would have preferred them to try something completely different with the character.

I would be worried if they did attempt a movie but with writers like Iannucci, Baynham and Marber involved it would stand a fair chance of recapturing the magic of that first series.

Given Iannucci thoughts towards series 2 - i.e., he doesn't like it - I can't see him getting involved.

Yeah don't think Iannucci would be involved in the movie. Last I heard it was Coogan and Marber working on it.

I dont remember him ever seeing him say he didnt like the show, more that he didnt like the process of writing it as Coogan 'method' writes, which is to say he was stuck in a room all day with Coogan being Partridge, Which he said drove him half mad. I thought series two was great, I think people having a negative attitude towards it has a lot to do with the fact that there was such a long break between the two series, so series one had developed such a massive reputation, a signifigant portion of the audience were always going to feel dissapointed as they were expecting so much. Thats my opinion anyway.

I thought it was better than Knowing Me, Knowing You . . . With Alan Partridge.

Whether one thinks it's better or worse than series one, I think it's good that he made it, simply because he is adding something new to the saga that is Alan Partridge. The man we see in the first series is more cocky in the beginning and throughout the series we see him plunging further and further into obscurity, but still grasping at the hope of being back on the BBC. In the next series, however, he has already hit rock bottom and has some confidence that he's 'bouncing back'; yet, he's satisfied with his life as a mediocre local 'celebrity' and doesn't have the deluded ambition that he'll ever be back regular tele. Once he has resolved the fact that he will never be 'famous' again, you see his life is actually better for it: girlfriend, satellite TV programme, and a better time slot for his radio show.

I hope the next time we see him he is in yet another stage of his life... maybe retirement.

I get confused. How many series are there?

There's the old one with the TV show. Then the radio show and travel tavern, then the one with the caravan and the foreign girlfriend.

Right?...

But they've all got different titles.

2 series of Knowing Me Knowing You (one on TV and one on the radio).

Then 2 series of I'm Alan Partridge.

It's so hard to look for on play.com when you can't remember the flipping titles.

I love this show more than any other comedy - even the unfairly treated second series - but I hope they don't do any more. If Coogan wants to do any more TV comedy, I'd like to catch up with Paul Calf or Gareth Cheeseman. Even better, I'd love to see Coogan and Rob Brydon do something on screen together, because I thought they were great together in that Michael Winterbottom film.

i just remembered one of my favourite scenes. its in series 2 - the episode where alan meets his new mate "dan" who owns a kitchen shop.
alan is standing in the car park of a hotel just shouting "dan!" over and over again, trying to catch dan's attention, but dan can't hear him. marvellous.
