How much does it cost to make a TV sitcom? Page 2

A typical BBC1 sitcom costs £150,000 to £300,000 an episode to film in total.

Are sketch shows more? They often have multiple external locations, so I imagine costs could run high. Saying that, I think I heard someone say that Armstrong and Miller is about £250,000 an episode.

It would very much depend on the show. Got to be true that a mostly-studio-based show is likely to be cheaper, but you've still got to take into account the cost of the sets; IIRC, the Scottish hotelier character (whose name I forget) from Little Britain Series 1 was only not included in Series 2 because the budget couldn't cover the £10,000 for his set. It's a balance of location (with the set provided!) vs studio (with the set needing construction).

Really, I am very pleasantly surprised at the marvellous set of replies you lovely people have given. Thank you. Makes a change from the 'witty banter' (abuse) you get on some football forums.

Anyone got a spare £250,ooo, then?

Over & out.

If we had, do you think we'd be sitting around here? ;)

Okay, yes we would. But still...
