Interesting that he developed penile cancer. It's actually very rare unless you're over 70. The commonest environmental factor associated with developing penile cancer is actually poor hygiene under the foreskin. (Hence, a lower incidence in circumcised men.) Whistling nnocently

I thought that was still conjecture, that smegma (filthy knob syndrome), contributes to/causes penis cancer? Christ *creeps off to get the Lynx out*.

The incidence (as far as I last checked) certainly shows lower incidence in circumcised men. Whether there are other genetic/ethnic/cultural/environmental factors associated with circumcision that confound the smegma proposition, I'm not sure. It is a fortunately relatively rare condition. I'm sure (like cervical cancer) there is probably some infective, papilloma-like viral element to it developing in younger men. Have to say it's not an area I've done a lot of reading on in a good number of years! ;)

Anyway, there's a lot of other good reasons for keeping your penis clean.

:D ;)
I always keep one eye on the literature. ;)

EDIT: I hope Jim Jeffries was okay after that incident and managed to go on and perform the set to the best of his abilities...

He came back on, talked about it for 2 minutes, got a couple of decent lines out of it and then left. A bit dazed I think.

Whether they like to admit it or not, all comedians/comedy actors want to make it in America. I was listening to Iain Lee's radio show tonight, and he admitted that he used to be really jealous of the success of his former 11 o'clock show colleagues Sacha Baron-Cohen and Ricky Gervais.

Have you ever seen or heard of this sort of thing happening before? I wouldn't be surprised, especially with the way a lot of comedians put people on the spot and try to humiliate them. I've seen a lot that sort of thing in clubs but not comedy clubs.

I once threw a pint of beer over Al Murray whilst he was on stage. Not proud of it, but it involved my then-girlfriend and it's not as simple as me being pissed and obnoxious (though I was, of course)... Harry Hill (as Matthew Hall) had to intervene (I kid you not. It was a gig at my med school, where Harry also trained.) :(

St George's?

A schoolboy error there Tim. Always drink the beer first.

I imagine Iain was jealous of them even when they were still on The 11 O'Clock Show with him. He should be grateful he's got his own radio show, frankly.

Then he could have pissed it on to him. The ultimate insult.

It was subsidised beer in those days, £1.00 - £1.20 per pint of Wife Beater/Kronenbourg, so I had at least one spare.

St George's?

Indeed. Chance (again) to plug another very funny ex-St George's comedian, my good friend Paul Sinha...

(Apologies. ;) )

We fortunately made-up at a later date, when I had the chance to apologise. (I also paid for his dry cleaning. He was doing a Pub Landlord routine where he dressed in a replica 'Star Trek' female uniform.)

Isn't he just a poor man's Russell Peters?

*Googles "Russell Peters"*

Well, Paul is the first to admit that he's brown. Is Mr Peters also one of his country's top pub quiz bores champions? 'Cos Sinha is.

Paul and I started doing stand-up at the same time, about 16 years ago. Luckily, Paul kept at it. He's on radio quite a lot now. On the current edition of The News Quiz (on iPlayer) and he made his first appearance on Just A Minute a couple of months back. He also writes and appears on The Now Show from time to time. :)

Russell Peters is one of his country's funniest exports, other than maple syrup scented laughing gas, can the same be said about Paul Sinha?

(I'm just yanking your chain, I've never actually seen Paul's stand-up, but I would reccommend Russell Peters).
