it is staggering that people still consider this to be an 'honour'. it is cringeworthy.
Bruce Forsyth - Why hasn't he been Knighted? Page 5
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ November 3 2009, 9:29 AM GMTWas GB British? Yes, about as British as they come. He came from an area where there are more Union Jacks per square mile than any other part of the world.
And the thing was given to several from the other side - Geldof, Miligan, Wogan - who flaunts his title around all the time, and yet thr other two weren't allowed to use the title because it's Honoury only to Irishmen/women. So how does Wogan get away with it???
I think both Wogan and Geldof now have British passports through marriage and Milligan was an English plastic Paddy. It's embarrassing enough watching Brits bowing and scraping for knighthoods but to see foreigners from a republic doing it is cringingly silly.
Quote: Bert Bastard @ November 3 2009, 12:55 AM GMTGary Wilmot should get a K for his contribution to comedy alone.
A Special K?
Quote: youngian @ November 3 2009, 12:08 PM GMTand Milligan was an English plastic Paddy.
His father was Irish.

Hmmm, maybe more the weetabix variety for Saturday Gang.

Geldof is Irish, so has the KBE but not the title. Wogan has taken British citizenship, so can use the title. Simple.
Quote: Scottidog @ October 31 2009, 9:18 PM GMTBecause he is a racist and doddery, had numerous affairs and a miserable old twat off camera.
Alao, how can you knight somebody who has just fiddled with cards and conveyor belts as a living?
LOL.Top line really said all. Although probably the worst role model kids in the world of football - Alex (We lost to Southampton because of the colour of their kit!) Ferguson, got knighted,so there's hope for a Brucie Bonus yet!
Just watched Brucie sing and dance live on the Television Awards on ITV. 83 years old and can still do it with style. Good on you Brucie.
As a fan of 'Stricktley Come Dancing' I like Bruce on that, not sure of his politics, but as far as his contribution to light entertainment over the last 60yrs, give the old codger a medal if he wants one!

He already has it.
No his chins to big.
There must be standards. Lines must be drawn.
Forsyth loves himself nearly as much as I detest him

He has more reason to like himself than you would have to detest him?
About as much as I understand what you just said
