Writers Wanted

OK, saw this on another site I dip into from time to time and thought it might be of interest.

We're currently looking for new writers who are prepared to bandy some ideas around in a team workshop setup- to come up with some scripts to be used initially in stand up, then via a perrier award -straight to tv. the writing may be absurdist and irreverant- a la hill, r+m; also dry- brydon, coogan, fred willard, sharp- carlin, wool, fresh, adroit and explosive.

please contact oliver hicks at kaduna76@gmail.com with initial thoughts, concepts and for more information.

Thank you Baumster.

Cheers Baumski. Although I wish they had explained a little bit more about who they are etc. so for that reason "I'm out!".

Cheers, Baumski.

If you want to know who they are, why don't email them and ask?

Because that is their job. They are the ones on the look out for scripts. Be wary, I could of written that just to get your best scripts/ideas etc. I've heard this happen a few times.

I certainly appreciate the post though.

Okay, i see your point. I've emailed asking for details and haven't heard anything yet.

tHANKS, bAUMSKI, YOU'RE A GOOD 'UN

I've had a reply - they haven't done standup before and are just wanting someone to write their stuff.

Doesn't sound over attractive does it, unless they are paying of course.

Maybe you can ask them to do a YouTube of themselves performing something (anything) and then you can see if they are any good/have any potential?

I still haven't had a response. There's scared of me. Teary

Is that all they said?

I got a reply and it went exactly like this. Make your own minds up.

i have not done stand up before, but it strikes me there's lots of room for someone truly hilarious. i want to find people who shit themselves at the same stuff.. if you get me.

irreverence for me has an eternal charm. i love the banal and the ridiculous particularly when there's a secret message underneath it, i want comedy with depth, comedy that works on layers, i want it to be victimless and i want people to laugh at it for different reasons.

mitch hedberg; "i used to do drugs, i still do but i used to too."

is this funny to you, what else is funny to you, big kiss,

mr hicks

I suggest you invite the guy to put up a YouTube of himself doing some Mitch Hedberg stuff or other material of his choice and then you can see for yourselves. :)

If he won't don't that, what else won't he do? ;)

I like the sound of the guy and he is confident... you never know!

I admire the guys moxy, but I think he really needs to sit down and draw up an Action Plan. It seems far too haphazzard and unplanned to be taken that seriously.

If you're looking for stand-up why don't you try a stand-up forum such as chortle.co.uk

I'm sure you'll get much more response there.

Well I do exactly the stuff he is looking for i'm currently stuck i mean 'in' a partenership with Leevil. The ceremony was very nice we had lilys. :)
