Let's All Mock The Hippy

I thought it might be fun for us all to take the piss out of this Mark Boyle guy.

He's the feller who said he was going to walk from Bristol to Gandhi's birth-place in India, without any money or documentation.

He got as far as Calais before being turned away as a suspected asylum seeker.

That was a couple of years ago. Now he's living -- without money -- on a farm or something with a solar-powered phone that his mates pay for, all in the name of the "freeconomy".

Easy target. Who wants to start?

If anybody wants to try to defend him, that could be fun too.

Um, yeah?

Hippies were never into ecology. Have you seen the five-mile traffic jam at Woodstock?

If you want something to really get your hackles up, read the comments on that column, most of which are supportive.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a thread about Leevil.

HA HA.
I am funny.

:P

Hey he seems harmless enough. Albeit what's he gonna do when his laptop breaks down?

I suspect we will all be living like this in a couple of decades. Then he will rule us as a king hippy.

I'd like to read the deleted comments on the article.

Pft let him get on with it.

He's not entirely harmless. He is persuading others to follow suit, and is evidently charismatic enough to get himself column inches in a national newspaper.

If the result is more people not polluting, using up benefits and providing occaisonal amusement, so what?

He's not about to cycle after you and steal your mobile.

Such apathy. I'm disappointed.

From me or him?

More apathy may be a good thing these days...

No one apathetic started a war.

They don't exactly look dissimilar.

From me or him?

Everyone in the thread so far.

It seems like it's quite easy to get people wound up by Daily Mail nonsense, but not apparently Guardian nonsense.

Kevin the Guardian winds me up plenty. But what has this guy done? He may be a bit of a smug cock, but so what?
