Is Halloween getting too big? Page 6

Personally I couldn't give a shit about pagan festivals and the fact that it's getting "too commercialized", "too Americanized" and all that mean-spirited bollocks.
As far as I can see Halloween is increasingly-becoming a great time for British kids to get dressed up and have fun and eat sweeties. Really, I couldn't care less about the deeper-meaning. If our kids are walking around smiling and having a good time, what does any of that other crap matter?

To all you Hallo-Scrooges, buy some sweets this Saturday and hand 'em over to the kids who've spent all night dressing up for it you miserable, miserable bastards.

And if you don't I'll be round each and every one of your houses with my big red devil's trident in my hand. And I swear by the great pagan God of bummery that you'll wish you'd spent a couple of quid on a bowl of candy.

Bob those apples.

They're getting nothing from me except from a bucket of water.

One minute we're warning our kids not to talk to strangers - the next we're encouraging them to knock on their doors!

That's why I live in the country. If someone comes knocking on your door looking like a zombie your so far away from civilisation it probably is so hit it with a shovel and close the door.

When my dad was a kid, there was Devil's Night, Halloween night and then Beggars Night for November 1st.

This year, I am taking out a fairy princess, a very swarthy pirate (my 4 year old with drawn on chest hair), and Sir Digby Chicken Caesar (my oldest finally got to see an episode of That Mitchell and Webb Look and fell in love with the character, he's even got the accent down). After much indecision I've decided to go as a very female version of the Doctor, complete with skinny pin striped suit, pink Chuck hi-top sneakers and trench coat. We'll be stunning.

AWESOME!

I am so looking forward to tomorrow night. Haven't had a decent night out in AGES.
