I honestly have no idea what bigging up means.
Best bit of American/Brit slang confusion I can think of offhand would be that we actually have an area in our county called slagtown, and I have a slagpile. Once the slag caught on fire, so they were quite hot.

It's been my experience that 'Bite Me' is usually spoken by women and is used in the spirit of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'; American version of Women's Lib, doncha know. Perfectly normal and sweet natured British women, however, are referred to as Bullies. Over here. So, how's it all going over there? Sorry, I ducked the audition.

As for "Bigging up", it refers to a person puffing out their chest with pride, making it look big. People will often say "Big up yourself", to another person, as a way of complementing them, and telling them to give themselves a pat on the back, so to speak. Oh, and people usually say "Give it up for so-and-so", rather than "Big it up for so-and-so", as someone mentioned before.
