Hi there,

I have just signed up! Am looking for people to read my new sitcom script!

I have written a television sitcom script based on 2 guys who are best friends who appear entirely different. However they are in fact very similar - they are both plagued by self doubt and they choose to deal with this in very different ways. Through the series the audience will see how the characters begin to switch over. Relationships test them and happiness is met in equal amount with great sadness. The one constant however is their friendship. By having each other they are equipped to deal with great pain and rejoice together in the happy moments that they individually and collectively have. They are both very socially aware and are always questioning the conventions that we have in society. For example, how do you behave in a lift? They discuss, in the show and on the blog, in great detail how you should behave in a lift. Do you speak? Can you eat food? Can you bring a bike into the lift? It is Seinfeld esque but with many more touching moments.

I believe there is no show on TV at the moment that has focused on men and the difficulties they face when in love or finding love. I also believe that by having the two characters narrating the show, as opposed to just one (which is the case in popular shows such as Sex and the City or Scrubs), which allows the audience to understand exactly what two men are thinking and allows the audience an insight as to why two entirely different men on the surface are in fact so inextricably linked and therefore the greatest of friends - this double narration makes my program unique. The crux of the idea though is to have an interactive show that the audience can and do get involved with. They can do this by visiting the blog that Matt has created (www.thenewsandme.com) and by viewing their Facebook and Twitter profiles. The blog has really taken off in the last month. I am now getting hundreds of views per day and on the 8th October was the 34th most popular growing blog on Wordpress (which houses millions of blogs). I am also receiving many positive comments. The audience, along with myself, will drive the stories that are then seen on the television.

Would love to forward it on to anyone who would like to read it? Feel free to visit the blog, here is a sample post http://thenewsandme.wordpress.com/2009/10/06/lift-etiquette/. If anyone works in an office then they may appreciate this!

If you would like to speak to me, or looking to write with anyone, then my email address is stevewhyley@yahoo.com.
Cheers

I got as far as you saying you'd watched Blade 3 and that it 'did not disappoint'. Unless you meant 'it did not disappoint as I absolutely knew it would be a pile of assburgers' I'm afraid we're just not compatible as people, Steve.

Not a good idea to put your mobile no. on here, John.

I saw some of that the other day; it wasn't quite as good as Camp Rock, featuring The Jonas Borthers, which I watched last night.

You think you guys have it bad! I have to go watch the latest Twilight film soon.

Ha, I was so right about you being blue collar - it's right there in the picture!

The irony of it all!

irony

I don't know, it looks like it could use another pass with the steam on this time.

I didn't even know there was a Blade 1 so Blade 3 is just wild crazy talk to the likes of me.

Look at this badboy:

Nice iron

We have a new poster who is keen to have his work Critiqued. I'm not having a go, but it would be nice to see more critique and less in-jokey banter, there are other threads for that sort of thing.

Welsome Steve! Some of your blogs are really amusing, I like the Lift one very much. Problem is, I fear I might be Barry! Oh well.

Regarding there not being anything out there that centres on two blokes in their search of love, each of whom narrating, I take it you've considered Peep Show?

Nice work, keep it up.

The mobile removal was a good step too, nice one Ben

Thanks Minty! I might post a scene of my script on here, maybe you could check it out - go easy on me though! Yes I had considered the peep show but I think my sitcom is more of a comic drama and so I think I get away with the double narration (I hope).
