Very beautifully shot (by the same guy who directed Derek & Clive Get the Horn) to show off the Australian landscape, but silly story and ordinary acting (even by Bill Kerr).

I liked it.

Expect to feel a little sick at some points.

Me too.

I liked it too, for the atmosphere and the scenery. There's another Australian horror film of that vintage (or a bit earlier) called Long Weekend. Harrassed husband takes bitchy wife on camping trip and spooky shit happens. I didn't like it, though some of it was unintentionally funny.
What was that film about the demonic car? I think it may have been called 'The Car' - that was silly and funny.
There was a recent Australian one I watched a year ago or two about a couple of English girls and a guy on a road trip in Oz who get kidnapped and tortured by some psycho but I forgot the name. It wasn't that memorable.

It made me jump a few times, but was also a bit silly.

Christine? A Stephen King story.

Urgh. Sounds like a terrible real life scenario. There was a serial killer who targeted English and other foreign backpackers in Australia in the 1990s. There were a couple of other cases of backpacker murders, one involving abduction and torture. Hardly a nice night's entertainment.

The same could be said for many recent (or in fact ever) horror films.

Sounds like Wolf Creek.

That's the one.
Talking of English girls abroad being menaced by a psycho, does anyone remember an old film with Pam Franklyn, and I think Michelle Dotrice, on holiday in France?
