Never Mind The Buzzcocks - Series 23 (2009) Page 5

I completely agree with this. It was like the writers thought, "oh, here's another young guy from a 'hip' TV show, let's put Simon Amstell's lines into his mouth".

Mark Lamarr used to have pretty much the same type of script, the presenters changes, but the script doesn't. They were never Amstell's lines, they were the writers'.

Didn't think much of last night's episode, to be perfectly honest. I think Jack Whitehall was trying to do it like Simon, but missed...

I'm not a massive Jack Whitehall fan... but I thought he did a pretty good job on Thursday. I guess I found it soothing to have Buzzcocks back to what it used to be: bitchy. Alex James made for a surprisingly good host the other week but, like all the other guest hosts until now, he was too 'soft' on the panellists.

Noel Fielding is totally ruining it for me though. Really don't like that man or his drug-ravaged face.

Looking forward to next weeks show with Frank Skinner hosting, for some reason it's on Wednesday instead.

Buzzcocks is moving to Wednesdays nights from here on in. Not quite sure why. It's like BBC Two have finally given up on their quest to make Thursdays funny.

I realise they were not Amstell's lines, hence why I said writers. I meant the lines written for him. And I disagree on the content being the same no matter what the presenter. I find that they very much take the personality of the host and mould what they are writing around them. I found Mark Lammar's scripts completely different to Simon Amstell's, which once again are different to every guest.

??????????

As for this series to date...

James Corden: Vastly superior to how I'd feared it may be. On par with most other episodes.
Rhod Gilbert: A little more sedate, but not awful. Not a perfect style for the show, but it worked well enough.
Alex James: Meh. Passable, but nothing special. I don't recall much of it.
Jack Whitehall: Just plain embarrassing. Didn't wortk at all. If it weren't for Stephen Mangan I'd suggest that the BBC might like to wipe that particular tape.

I'm looking forward to seeing Frank Skinner host tonight.

nothing at all will ever match upto amstell. Angry . nmtb needs a quick witted host whos not afraid to ask good questions and take the piss.and currently there aren't very many comedians who will do that.
i they contiinue with a cycle of guest hosts then it will go down the drain.
james cordan was shit
rhod gilbert was brill though I loved him.really funny but not daring enough.
i liked alex james but he didnt bring the amstell factor into the show.
and jack whitehall was brilliant.nothing compared to amstell but the best so far.hes young and bitchy :D
and I have a teeny crush on him. :$
but people don't want old people hosting the show eg frank skinner. hes brill but to old. the younger generation won't like it.
just my opinion. Wave

They can go and watch BBC Three. That's what it's there for. :)

Yes! It was, but it can't have been one of them two, surely? Errr

Frank Skinner is ace, we all know that, but to be honest I did feel he was on the wrong show tonight, really wasn't suited to him.
