My favourite horror was the original 1970s Salem's Lot, it just can't be beat for scares.

The original Omen when I was a kid. Since being a kid horrors bore me cos I'm too aware they're just movies and don't find any of them scary. Having said that, Sixth Sense was a good film if you can count that as a horror.

Utter Garbage
Less than awful. My cat produces better viewing fare from his behind without even trying. The people who made this atrocity should compensate viewers for the time lost watching it. It's just BAD film making across the board. Pitiful acting, terrible sound quality, no perceptible direction or production qualities (they must have been drugged out porn capitalists with money to burn) it's hard to believe that there were any professionals involved in this thing at all. Perhaps the makers of this poor excuse for a movie were simply high on their own egos. That would be my best guess. It's the sort of thing I would be embarrassed to find under my name on an internet search. Not even worthy of irony.
Halloween, the original film, is great. Assault On Precinct 13 (again, the original) is another great Carpenter film; it's kind of like a zombie film in some respects. But it isn't. And another vote for The Shining, Rosemary's Baby and The Thing.
Who here absolutely loved 'People Under the Stairs"
It scared me so much when I was a kid, but I kept wanting to watch it again and again (I think) for the pure creativity behind the story and visuals.
The Amicus antholgy films are pretty good for a bit of retro horror.
The original Texas Chainsaw Masacre is great.

Love the bit with the really old guy, and the family keep trying to get him to hit the girl with a hammer, but it keeps falling out of his weak hand. Sort of horrible, scary and funny at the same time. It's a great film, especially when that whiny guy in the wheelchair finally gets it!
