Rewritten but now rejected sitcom script Page 2

Hi Bigfella,

I think I can see what Roodeye is getting at. Despite being of an age where I can remember all of the stuff he was talking about a fair bit of this did feel somewhat old-fashioned to me.

That's not to say it isn't good - cos it is, but I could see this being an issue for commissioners.

I really liked the structure and complications which were nicely done.

The dialogue was well judged by and large, although maybe a bit predictable in parts.

I also found Cromwell pretty sympathetic in a Blackadder sort of way (incidentally, this obvious if not entirely fair comparison of the scheming servant might also cause problems).

So, overall a thumbs up but I can see why it might not get made.

To add to Danny's comments - one planned episode of my time travelling PR sitcom (trailled on here ages ago and debuting at the Sitcom trials this year) was planned to be around the reinvention of an effette Henry. Hmmm.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I can fully understand the old fashioned tag. To be fair it's pretty much what I like. And they say write what you know.

Maybe comedy will go in cycles and this sort of thing will come back in fashion.

The Blackadder thing is always going to be a problem and something I couldn't (or didn't ) really avoid.

Thanks for reading and offering views folks.

I don't think your style of comedy is out of fashion by any stretch. If there's a place in the schedule for stuff like My Family, Green Green Grass, and Reggie Perrin (and probably others I can't think of) then there's definitely a place for your work.

We can but hope! :)

Old fashioned doesn't necessarily mean out of fashion. I am not exactly an insider, but there do seem to be cycles in what gets commissioned. I guess the cost thing is probably more of a barrier in the present climate.

I can't believe I shot myself in the foot with that scene.

I took some "locations" out because I was thinking about costs - just the three internal locations. Then I go and have a brainstorm.

I'm not conning myself as to that is why it didn't go anything further. But I'm a fool by putting that in.

Anyway it's a route in.
