Quote: zooo @ October 27 2009, 10:20 PM BSTI say "who knew" all the time. Never really think of that as an American saying.
I love it when Americans try to say "lager". It just doesn't work at all.
I say "Who'da though?" does that count?

Remember Amanda from Friends (season 9), the New Yorkian who spoke with very exaggerated British accent?
"Oh bugger! Now I feel like total arse!"
Simple line. But I'm always in stitches.
Jennifer Coolidge later was Joey's agent in Joey (sequel), and was arguably the best thing there.

And not "who'dda thunk"?
MILF!
that's a pretty funny clip.
And I fight the urge not to say "who'dda thunk" like the old folks back up north.
I've always been puzzled by the popularity of the word "Stylee". The majority of people I hear using it almost certainly have no association with West Indian people, and certainly don't listen to West Indian music. They remind me of Homer simpson, when he took Bart and Lisa to that Lollapolooza-style festival and bought himself one of those big colourful Rasta hats.
I resent West Indians using the word 'Stylee' as my great, great, great, great, great, great Grandfather said it first. Those crazy 'Brackers'.
Curt, I love your avatar!
Quote: Kevin Murphy @ October 27 2009, 5:29 PM BSTNot just the artsy types. News reporters on the BBC frequently talk about "dissing" political opponents and "bigging up" allies.
Is this on the BBC Urban Network?
Quote: catskillz @ October 27 2009, 3:15 PM BSTI wasn't talking about all American slang. I was just talking about words that you hear in sitcoms, but never on the street.
Like "douche bag" then.

Did you guys get "My Pet Monster" in the UK?

I'm not sure. I wrote that when you had Russell from Up. The new one's good too.

Yes, that sounds familiar.
Up was fantastic.
As for My Pet Monster, here was the intro.
It was based on a Canadian craptacular kids film.
Yes, Up was great, I'd see it again.

I don't think I remember that though.

Yes. Definitely the toy, not sure about a cartoon.
