Dolly, your daughter is seven years old and when you ask her would she like Sole meunière you know she would really prefer fish fingers so you bring it on yourself!

That's my favourite Marc P quip so far.

She's five and helped me make smoked haddock and spinach risotto for dinner actually. :)

Smoked haddock *slurps*

That is the yellow stuff, isn't it?

Laughing out loud Sadly it was the other way 'round. Kids need to learn how to use sharp knives.

Smoked Haddock in Kedgeree for me thanks. BIG YUM!

See I knew you were classier than some would say!

Ah, but it's still the same stuff though. Best fish in t' world. How do you smoke something? No comments about Rizlas thank you anyone.

Not to be morbid or sad, but there's a pretty good chance I'll have to write my granddad's eulogy, being the only writer in the family. :(

Has he died? Sad to hear that if so and it's terrible being asked to write something because you are perceived as the writer. Sometimes it is a different thing entirely being creative and being asked to be a copywriter for other peoples emotions however heartfelt.

They are taking him home from the hospital tomorrow morning. He's off all his meds, the catheter has been removed, and he's unable to walk. My family, I've come to realize, is just not capable of saying nice things. he's such a remarkable man and they can't say anything more than the facts and how they will divvy up his stuff. I actually offered to do it, because I loved him dearly and he deserves something better than "He worked for the electric company for 45 years and had 4 children."

He called me a c**t, patronised me and was rude to me for not understanding his sketch and pointing out that a sketch writer doesn't need to add camera angles and the like to a script. I know it's Dolly bashing season, but he would insult me in *s, which I objected to.

Oh Dolly, I'm sorry! Console That must have really sucked!

Ha! Thanks! And the best bit is that you actually did what I told you to do!

This just helps to further convince me of my God-like powers!! Pleased :P

Come here, Ruby, I have a job for you too... Cool

*sniffs own avatar*

Laughing out loud

Teary Eeeek.

Good on you Andrea it's hard to do these things and that's why people dont. Writing is hard work for me at the best of times and doing something like that is so much harder because it is real - so well done for taking it on because I know you are going to be so tough on yourself for doing it, but I get from your posts that you are an honest person and sometimes that is the hardest thing to do. Particularly because you feel you have to do better for him and you are being made to think about what to write even before you have to although you know you will have to soon, which makes it even more heartbreaking for you if that makes sense?

I helped someone write their speech for their father's memorial service. It was quite therapuetic and had a few jokes. :)

Thanks Marc. Well said.

It is hard to put words to a person's life, especially one that you care for so much. But I think of what could happen if I don't. A pastor will get up and say some generic words about grief and then that's it. I can't let that happen. :(
