A fair start. Pretty standard The Thick Of It. Sub-Yes Minister still, but no surprises there - nice nod to it with discovering the results of the reshuffle through BBC News Online though. I liked that.
The Thick Of It - Series 3 Page 5
What an awful programme. I really don't see where it gets its reputation from.
I had to switch off after 10 minutes, it was so grating.
It sadly shows the decline in British comedy and satire since say, Yes Minister. That had wit and subtle characterisation. This merely consists of copious use of the f-word and similar terms, and believing that is inherently funny (it's not) does not bother to set its sights any higher. The alleged comedy consists of the characters aggressively and obnoxiously attacking each other at first sight, something that would never happen in real life and precludes any of the subtler aspects of human interaction, which is what sitcom is supposed to be about. One character will walk up to another passing him in the corridor and scream something like:
"HEY YOU BALDY! Yes you, you bald twat. Why are you so f**king bald? Your head looks my left bollock only mine's got f**king hair on it. Now go and f**k yourself some hair, baldy."
Add to that the vertigo-inducing camera work, and you have one of the worst programmes I've ever seen.
British humour RIP.

I don't bother to read the rest of someone's post after they make this sort of comment. You "had" to switch off? You physically couldn't stand it? Bless. I'm sorry I couldn't read the rest of your post, but I had to stop because it was so trite and banal.

Wow, I know "your opinion" and all, but that is just so off the mark I don't even know where to start!
Thought last night's episode was a decent start, fairly slow going but as it was introducing a new character it was expected. Still had me laughing like a goon though. Some fantastic lines, "You look like you just shat out a Lego garage" and Glenn in particular was on fine form, "I mean I don't trust her around money".
I thought Rebecca Front was great, she got a good balance of standing up to Tucker while simultaneously showing her fear.
Rebecca Front was good as usual, but I still feel that this show is nowhere near as clever or as funny or as it should be.

With wit like that you should be writing for the show.

I will have to watch this again as the episode was 'so dense you bend light around it.'
Rebecca Front's performance mirrored her character with her finding her pretty quickly throughout the episode. Her character looks promising when it could of easily of been a blank canvas for Tucker to hurl insults at.
Anyone know if Jamie is appearing and if not what has happened to Paul Higgins?
Will be good to see Roger Allam, Will Smith and the horrible sloaney woman turn up again as part of the opposition.
Woohoo! It was fab and made me laugh lots (in particular the 'Do you trust Terri?' bit). So glad it's back.
What was on the red button? I've missed it now and can't find it anywhere.

Chris Addison has just confirmed to someone via Twitter that Jamie will not be back this series. I, for one, am f**king disappointed.

I too missed the extra content. Wasn't that well advertised. I'm hoping they'll show the extra stuff again after the BBC Four repeat on Thursday.
Great start, though.

Stop being so silly. You don't like one show so ALL of British comedy is dead. Sheesh.

Yeah British comedy is dead, which is why we've had Stewart Lee, Inbetweeners, Peep Show, How Not To Live, Thick of It, to name but a few this year. Sheesh, indeed!
(And Off The Hook, HIGNFY, Armstrong and Miller...)
Which one was Jamie again?
