hey everybody - thank you all for welcoming me to the forums. I've been pissed since Wednesday - my dog had to have an emergency hysterectomy so I took that as my cue. Well, I did stay sober enough to pay the bill, get her home, tuck her up and find the corkscrew.

At the height of my merriment I convinced myself that one of the 3 scripts I have submitted to Red wins - and (sod's law) - it's the one with only ten pages written ! (The other 2 are complete and gathering dust)

Two more glasses of wine later I realised that my chances of winning are slim and bought my first ever euro miiions lottery ticket (having popped out for a coffee and to encourage the patient to have a wee)

Feeling a bit subdued today - dehydrated, the sunshine's too bright, the music's too loud, the sick dog's getting better and wants more walks.

And she smells.

bye for now

LOL.
You sound like my kind of girl.

haha I enjoyed reading that very much Julie :D

I know what it's like when the dog's not well (no - I'm not talking about Charley feeling sick) - our young lab fell down the stairs in her sleep and injured her kidneys. 3 nights on a drip. Thank goodness for pet insurance (£900)!

Possibility of David winning: square root of minus 999.3. Hmmm. Anyone got the number of Mr Hawking?

So I've gota chance then!

He's the dialing tone isn't he?

Hi Julie, welcome to the forums. So, not only do we share the same name Cool but neither of us have completed our "finalist's" script. Hmm, what does that say about "Julie's." They're over-confident? They're scatterbrained? They're not gonna win? Huh?

They're scatterbrained?

:O youre saying that as if it's a bad thing!

Not at all. I'm as scatterbrained as they come and it hasn't done me any harm.
;)

They reckon Mid-Oct for requesting scripts according to the update.

I don't wanna win, the 5K would be nice, but it would be too much too fast. I want to earn my place, I want to gain the experience and use that as something to look back on for material.

I entered, but during the whole email cock up, I don't think I did it properly.

Thanks Pilot, I've still got a lot of work to do!

Thanks for the update, I'm going to need those extra two weeks.

Lee, regarding paying your dues and waiting for life experience before writing, I would have to disagree.

Tony Jordan himself said recently that if you haven't experienced something then just find out about it. Write what you know doesn't just mean write what you have personally experienced (sci-fi as a genre would be fracked) but what you have researched properly.

For instance, I wanted to write about sex but I've never had it so I asked my friends what it's like - some even let me watch them in action.

I've had sex but have no friends what should I write about Laughing out loud

That's not what I meant Robin, I'm just at the point where I'm not sure what I want, so I'd like to try a bit of everything, which would still be possible, but, ya know, it was just a throw away comment, lol.
