That's what it's all about though.
You put something on Critique & everyones entitled to their opinion, and the Author can do what they want with the feedback.
As Ange said, Roodeye has definitely breathed a bit of life into the Crirtique section, and it's nice to see a few more people taking an interest as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, but there's no point asking for feedback if you only want to take on board the positive. Look how long the Cotter thread went on for...

Steve I preferred you when you had a moustache.

You're probably not alone.
:D

But Critique is my favourite forum & I'm glad to see a few people who don't normally go on there.

I saw this sketch earlier and didn't respond because I had nothing good to sayabout it, then I wanted to balance out the positive comments with what I feel is wrong with it, which is what Critique is all about.

The OP was then a bit rude to me.

Laughing out loud

maybe, but I don't think it's a very good sketch and it's written with far more than a sketch actually needs (the use of 'we zoom in', etc).

I'm being honest with feedback too. :)

Yes, but as a 'newbie' I've been interested in seeing how a 'proper' sketch should be set out so Roodeye's posts have been helping me.

Too many of the established people on here keep that info to themselves.

Many's the time I read a posting on a forum and think "If you have to ask the question, you're never going to understand the answer." Cool

But also if someone has to have a joke explained it hasn't worked. Cool

What does this mean?

I wouldn't say they are set out properly though, going by what I've been taught on a script writing MA (taught by professional writers, producers and directors)and from selling sketches to the BBC and attending their workshops.

There's some really good books about script writing too that have this info.

I am more than happy to share professional info if anyone is interested.

That's true.
But I've learnt more from putting sketches on a forum like this than I have from reading books.

Not that the Books don't have all the correct advice, but for me, sometimes putting something in front of an audience (of sorts) can be the best way to find out what works & what doesn't.

To be honest Marc, you don't come across as that, but I hope to take you up on that one day. ;)

Defintely for feedback on content, but for formatting they're very helpful.

Lee Henman put a sketch up recently and he's had a lot of success, so his sketch would be good to look at. Also Marc is the only person here who earns their living solely from script and fiction writing. He drinks it all away, but that's his business...
