That looks to me like a website set up as a front to flog Omega 3 supplements.

I've heard the same story in a radio 4 programme, 'Medical Matters', where they were not trying to sell us anything. According to these impartial nutritionists, we have a problem in the west, in that we are consuming too much omega6 compared to omega3. You are, of course, right to be suspicious of commercial interests in all this: the promotion of margarine as a 'healthy' spread has no basis in fact, since marg tends to have a high omega6 content, thus throwing off our balance. Apparently decades ago, the tests showed that switching to marg did not reduce health risks, but the industry chose to misrepresent the evidence.

Yes, but the media's willingness to accept the likes of Gillian McKeith and Patrick Holford as impartial experts should encourage scepticism.

As I said in my previous post, it's a £80 million industry....

All of that. The fish oil industry alone is worth £110 million in the UK.

Whoa!

Mind you I think the £80million is thinking of diet products alone. Suppliments must be a fair bit more.

I prefer wholemeal bread to white bread. Recently, though, I've tried some oatmeal bread and really like that too. I only really have chicken in my sandwiches now as opposed to lots of ham and beef previously.

I also like a lot of Mediterranean food which is quite healthy.

Here's a link to the show, including a lot of links, should anyone want to pursue them and make up their own mind. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00ncwwm

EDIT:
By co-incidence there was an update/repeat of The Food Programme yesterday, in which it was made clear that there is only minimal conversion by the body of short-chain Omega3 into the beneficial long-chain version, so most omega3 from plant extracts is virtually useless.

There was also some interesting facts about the possible link between obesity, brain development, and criminal behaviour, with the omaga3/6 balance.

WHO MENTIONED MCKEITH? WHO HASN'T READ THE RULES THAT IT IS A CRIME TO MENTION THAT HOSEBEAST WHOREFACES NAME WHEN I AM ABOUT? FUCKING CRAP LOVING SPAMPURSE LIPPED COCK!

*Quickly tranquillised by fellow users*

I'm having curry tonight. I doubt it's going to be healthy either.

Yeah I only really have wholemeal bread because I like the taste better, not because I'm Miss Healthypants.

White bread tastes so false.

I used to love white bread. But once you go brown you never go back.
Or something.

I don't really like bread. It's a bit spongy. I prefer rice cakes and rye crackers.

I love rice cakes!

Rye crackers? Are they Ryvita? If so, I love them too in all their fibrous(?) glory.

Finn Crisp are nicer than Ryvita I think.
