Have you ever had a dream that seems to last all night? I remember one night, having this dream in which I was being chased, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid-style - though I wasn't on a horse - for what seemed like ages. It was full of really exciting scenes, e.g. in one part, I was down at some docks, being chased across those big metal containers that they load onto ships. The dream came to an end when I got sick of running, and decided to try and trick my assailant, by hiding under a bed. This was a bad idea, as he guessed I was under there and caught me. When I woke up, I could feel my body aching a bit, as if I'd been tossing and turning for ages. The funny thing is, I think they say the average dream only lasts about 10 minutes.
The earliest nightmare I can ever remember having was just after I'd seen the T.V. trailer for Gremlins, when I was really young. I just remember being chased down an alley by a load of Gremlins, and me trying to close a door, as they all pushed on the other side. I can still see their green arms coming through the gap in the door. I woke up shouting in my bedroom, then hid under the covers, just to be on the safe side!
I would never describe my dreams to anyone.
As I always have a blocked or partially blocked nose I do dream that I'm drowning quite often and gasping for breath. (Or my husband is just trying to kill me in my sleep.)

Maybe you snore and he puts a clothes peg on your nose?

I don't snore apparently but I do annoyingly have to have all the windows open and have an electric fan on, even in winter.
Maybe he puts it on your nose because he farts a lot then?

Why do you think I insist on the windows being open?

I just dreamed I was at John Cusack's graduation.

Was Joan there?
Quote: Leevil @ October 23 2009, 12:05 PM BSTOMGZ! I had a dream I went 'round Aaron's house for tea last night. It was really bizarre. You introduced me to your brother, who was an absolute psychopath and reminiscent of Private Pyle.
Aaron, you took me into your garden, which was huge and a weird mix of giant train sets and big mud pools, which you proceeded to splash about in.
I just stood there, confused as hell, smoking a fag, which you hated. But then your brother joined me and that really pissed you off. Ellie popped her head in somewhere too.
Next thing, we're in your living room and your brother is showing me his army memorabilia. When out of nowhere (almost ghost like) a woman, who I presume was zooo sits down next to me, giving me evils!
I don't remember much else, but it was bloody weird and oddly enough, not counting the random mud pool incident, Aaron seemed like a very decent chap.
That is mind-bendingly bizarre.
Giant train sets - I wish.
Mud pools - ew.
My brother has an Iron Cross, but I have a Swastika flag. He's one of these bizarre stereotypical liberal leftie student types (so yes on the psychopath observation) who goes to rallies organised by Tony Benn though, so I doubt he'd have a proper memorabilia collection! I've no idea who Private Pyle is though.
Quote: Leevil @ October 23 2009, 12:25 PM BSTI had another dream which involved my girlfriend being a kick arse vampire/monster hunter. But oddly it was in video game graphics?
Did it give you blood lust?
Quote: EllieJP @ October 23 2009, 12:29 PM BSTThat's the first time anyone has EVER said that to me!
No it's not!
Quote: Dolly Dagger @ October 24 2009, 12:47 PM BSTWas Joan there?
Hee, nope! All his family were in the bar and forgot to turn up to the ceremony, I was the only one there.
Poor John.
Quote: Moonstone @ October 23 2009, 1:50 PM BSTYes, there are a few patterns actually. I find if I really think hard I can discover where most things came from though, things that seem totally random in the dream. There're lots of things that came from really insignificant passing moments days or even weeks ago, that I was even lucky to remember happening. I'm beginning to realise that nothing in a dream is random, they're just tons of information mixed together to create the surreal effect they have.
Supposedly, dreams are a byproduct of the brain sorting and filing away all of your memories and experiences.
I dreamt that I was one of a cycling duo in some kind of sports event, and we won the world championship in whatever sport this was. Then we came back to England and there was a novelty photo booth in the entrance lobby reception area of a leisure centre, which we'd evidently endorsed (I hope for a ridiculously large amount of cash).
Then I was having breakfast in some kind of restaurant/diner on the top floor of a gorrrrrgeous art deco building.
Oh, and before both of those, one with some kind of ride that was a cross between a ferris wheel and a theme park water slide. There was a really fat girl who almost got stuck, but came down and landed with a massive bump. It was quite amusing.

I suspected as much, but have never heard it said.

Analysts would tell you that that's an indication of a sophisticated and refined sense of humour

Private Pyle is a character from the film Full Metal Jacket, who gets beaten down so bad by the drill Sergent he goes crazy and ultimately kills himself. The resemblance was mostly the intensity of the character.
I can't explain the dream, although the train set obviously rings true.
I always have a blood lust, I just bottle it up. One day I'll explode and start drinking from the necks of prostitutes. Actually, that's Thursday sorted.
