I remember our first colour TV, when I was a kid. And then Teletext. The Ceefax advent calendar was bloody exciting.

Come on, Aaron, you have no concept of Fantasy Island? Possible one of the most absurd and terrible, yet strangely good and watchable TV shows ever.

You know the dwarf who shouted "Boss! The plane! The plane!". Well, Ricardo Montalban played the boss. (The dwarf was played by Herve Villechaize, who was in 'The Man With The Golden Gun' and had about a five second cameo in 'Airplane'. Killed himself aged 50 in 1993.)

Fantasy Island

. . .

When are you pretending it was on then? :)

Because it was!!!!!!!!! Angry

Late 1970s to early 1980s. (About 1978 - 1984.)

That wouldn't have been Sky.

No, it was BSkyB :D

What years approx was it on English TV?

Trying to work out why I missed its existence entirely.

70s and 80s.

Next you'll be saying you don't remember Nick's War on Crime!

Slacker. Unimpressed

Surely you remember The Martha Lund Show and Bilge Gangs?

Quote: Leevil @ October 23 2009, 11:16 PM BST

No, it was BSkyB :D

No, I 'd imagine it would've been on another satellite system, from Europe. 'Proper' naughty channels aren't allowed to be broadcast into homes under British Law, so it wouldn't be on the Sky/BSkyB system.

But if your box was chipped, as Lee said, and particularly if you point your dish at a different satellite, then there's nothing stopping you from getting 'those channels'.

Anyway, I've never heard of all of these people and programmes, let alone actually seen them.
