Have you seen Saxondale? A really good Coogan show, I think. Plenty would disagree, however.
I would always recommend Nathan Barley to anyone who hadn't seen it.

I really like True Blood! HBO quality, funny and good mythology. Can't wait for the next series.

Agreed. There's a new (prequel) film out too.
Seinfeld - still need to see the last two series. Nice one.
Check out Deadwood- even if you have never been a big western fan the story of this South Dakota frontier town, operating outside the law and trying to cope with the inevitable encroachment of the United States, is fascinating to watch.
This is due not only to the intelligent themes and writing but loads of really big performances from classy actors who deserve more recognition; Brad Dourif as the overworked and put upon Doc Cochran, Robin Weigert as the irritating but good hearted drunk Calamity Jane and Powers Booth as the suave and sinister bar and brothel owner Cy Tolliver.
One face you will recognise is Ian McShane who dominates the series as the town's villainous fixer Al Swearingen, an amoral and ruthless but practical man who laments the passing of free enterprise at its most brazen and lawless. McShane's Swearingen will go down as one of the all time great TV performances and characters.
In case granddad likes Westerns for Christmas, be warned the language is a bit fruity to say the least.

Deadright.
Sorry youngian, watched the first series of Deadwood, hoped I'd enjoy it with every new episode, but I didn't.

Snuff Box is worth a look if you haven't seen that. Some very funny stuff in that.
