The problem is to celebrate our culture and history we have to take the good with the bad. No one has the stomach to seive the shit from the gold.
We may be happier celebrating Trafalgar when we're more guilty over the slaughter in Kenya in the 1950s.
By not owning our past good and bad, we lose our sense of self.
