I'm not sure I understand how you are at once interested in electronics, but still unable to change a plug (although it does take more time and knowledge than some realise).

That was kiiiind of my whole point. I've never managed with anything I'm particularly interested in.

I admit, I would have liked to have been molly coddled and had everything done for me... there's nothing like being lazy... but how would that have helped me?

There's nothing inherently positive or negative about either way. Plenty of people become 'independent' on or before their 18th, only to end up living on benefits, having their kids taken from them, working in dubious professions... Likewise there are plenty of people who leave their parents much later and are perfectly successful, well-adjusted individuals. It's not a case of being lazy or not, as you seem to believe.

My parents live in the east wing of my house. Does that count?

:)

Hang on need to change my avatar.

As long as your children and grand children (who are also your children) don't live in the walled up cellar, then I think that's okay.

Forgot to give my other piece of smashing advice when you move into a new house / flat - get totally pissed out of your nut the first night you are there. Why?

This keeps all the ghosts and burglars away. Whenever I've moved to a new place, I've found it incredibly difficult to fall asleep in new surroundings, so I end up getting bladdered and just passing out.

The only downside is when you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the loo and have a 'where am I?!' freak out.

I'm just saying, I can't understand the way people who have the option to leave - don't. I appreciate choices are not always easy to make, and I understand that not everyone has the same mind as me, and the same way about thinking about life. I just think some people take the piss with how long they sponge off their parents. 18 years of paying for them is long enough.

I would say most people who stay with their parents after the age of around 21 pay them rent, so it's not always 'sponging'. :)

I think it's nice if you get on so well with your parents that you're all happy to spend so much time together for a bit longer than usual.

What happened to the days of 3 generations living in the same house?

Now we have parents divorced, kids sponging, mum with a toy boy, Dad with a school girl. Granny in a care home, appearing on Panarama...

I don't know, this country!!! *shakes fist*

Sorry Zooo... previously I was talking about 25 year olds and above. I appreciate you can't always leave home at 21. At least trying to leave home is better than having never bothered and I don't want to generalise, I just don't understand.
