Looking for Dramatic & Comedy 'Short Plays.'

Hi

I am looking for some comedy/drama plays (ca. 60 mins long) to be able to submit to a friend of mine who has just been crowned Artistic Director of a great Fringe Theatre.

About me, I'm a Producer/Actress who has just completed her first comedy sketch show and who is attached as Associate Producer to 3 feature films.

I am looking for a play that can show my versatility as an actress. A one woman play would be great, for example, where I could play a variety of different characters, using different voices etc. But I am open to anything from comedy to heavy drama, something gritty and preferably contemporary/modern.

If you are interested, or would like any more info, please email me your synopsis'/scripts to: jkfilmproductions@ymail.com

Hope to hear form you soon

I know! :) Couldn't resist. Do you want a short stand alone monologue seven minutes or so??

That would be great Marc - thanks

Sent. :)

Try this:

"WOMAN:
Daylight. See the dew on the sunflower and a rose that is fading. Roses whither away like the sunflower. I yearn to turn my face to the dawn. I am waiting for the day. Midnight. Not a sound from the pavement. Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone. In the lamplight the withered leaves collect at my feet and the wind begins to moan. Memory. All alone in the moonlight, I can smile at the old days; I was beautiful then. I remember the time I knew what happiness was. Let the memory live again. Every streetlamp seems to beat a fatalistic warning. Someone mutters and the streetlamp gutters And soon it will be morning. Daylight. I must wait for the sunrise. I must think of a new life And I musn't give in. When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too And a new day will begin. Burnt out ends of smokey days, the stale cold smell of morning. The streetlamp dies, another night is over, another day is dawning. Touch me. It's so easy to leave me all alone with the memory of my days in the sun. If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is. Look, a new day has begun."

Okay, it's not really a monologue, more of a catalogue - but beggars can't be choosers.

:D
Well at least it's easy to commit to Memory.

Who's loooking after the Coats? :D

Great but not really a 60 minute play for Theatre.... thanks anyway

It is if you speak slowly enough.

Roodeye's got a very good point.

You say yourself, "I am looking for a play that can show my versatility as an actress."

point taken - ill approach the National with it and keep you posted :-)

Be sure to mention this site Joanna, I believe one of their theatres is named after one of the contributors here. And he had a massive thread ;)

If anyone has any two-handers too that would be great....?

I didn't get an acknowledgement for the one hander Joanna.
